Brand New Life
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme. Saturday 9: Brand New Life (The Theme from Who's the Boss) (1984)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) Who's the Boss? is a sitcom that ran from 1984 to 1992. Were you a fan? Yes, we loved watching. It was very cute... and ahead of its time with a male housekeeper.
2) This week's song was composed by the show's producers, two men not known as songwriters. Have you ever tried your hand at songwriting? Nope.
3) The lyrics tell us that, as we go through life, it's not uncommon to "lose a dream or two." Do you agree? Yes. Have you ever had to give up on a dream? Yes, but sure traded up and happy for it!
4) Who's the Boss? was about a highly-paid executive who hires a housekeeper. In the 1980s, it was unusual because the exec was a woman and the housekeeper was a man. Do you believe a man can be as good at housework as a woman? Of course. Have I met one who is? Nope!
5) Though the show's star, Tony Danza, graduated from the University of Dubuque and was prepared to be a teacher, he got sidetracked. Back in New York, he boxed and tended bar and fell into acting. He finally did teach in 2010, taking over a 10th grade English class. How many different occupations have you held? Only 4 or 5 if I count high school.
6) On the show, his daughter was played by Alyssa Milano. When she was a teenager, she rebelled against the show's producers by cutting off her long hair and wearing a pixie style. Were you a rebellious teen? No. I played by the rules... firstborn and all that!
7) "The Boss" was Judith Light, who had been known to TV audiences from her work on One Life to Live. She met Robert Desiderio on the set of the soap opera and they have been married for more than 34 years. Tell us where one of your romances got started. Joe and I met in a bar!! Shocker!! LOL
8) The show -- rebroadcast with subtitles -- was a hit in Italy, where it was known as Casalingo Superpiù (Super Housekeeper). Say something to us in Italian. Vorrei del gelato al cioccolato, per favore.
9) Random question -- Have you more recently watched the sunrise or set? I can see a partial sunset from the living room so I'll go with sunset. I am rarely up in time to see the sunrise!
Thanks for your visit! You can join Saturday 9 HERE. Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's questions!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

Wishing you a Happy Weekend.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Enjoyed your answers, smiles...I cant speak Italian, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI can't either! Used Google translation!
DeleteThose are fun answers, Terri. We liked that show, too. Good clean humor and pretty good writers. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.... I was too busy with other things to watch much tv during that period... :)
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed it as well when our kids were younger. Not sure I would enjoy now...Alyssa Milano has gotten on my last nerve lately.lol She is trying to get movies and TV shows to stay away from Georgia because of Ga's Heartbeat Bill. How the Hollywood stars can get so weepy over animal abuse but are ok with killing babies is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteYep... hypocrites, to say the least.
DeleteI cannot believe I have no recollection of that show whatsoever. Must have been because my children were young and I was too busy to watch much television. Oh, well!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Terri!
I am so jealous of all of you who can see the sunset from your living room! We have trees everywhere, so it is hard to see it rise or set.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get that chocolate icecream! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I'd like a bowl, as well! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember when you recounted going over and asking Joe to dance. Well done!
I watched that show and always liked Tony Danza. I feel like he would be a nice guy and fun in person. Not feeling the same could be said of Alyssa Milano...
ReplyDeleteYou are right about her.
DeleteI never did watch that show. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend sweet Terri. Hugs and blessings
ReplyDeleteThe traded up comment was pretty cute!! And I'll have some of that chocolate gelato; anyway, I think that's what you were offering there! It's interesting to me that Tony Danza and Alyssa are so far apart in their thinking. She could have learned a lot from him. (Terri, I was also the oldest, but I confess to trying to break ground for my sister and brother. Haha! I always got in trouble.)
ReplyDeleteYour reply to #8 sounds like a request for some dessert, gelato, in particular. Am I right? I took Spanish but maybe there are similarities to Italian???
