Weekend Recap on Monday...

I had a great weekend.  This was one of my three-day weekends and it has been glorious!  March is a little wonky with my work because the Doc is taking nearly two weeks off to go to Atlanta to babysit their grandkids.  His son is also a physician and is presenting a paper in China.  The wife is going with him, so doctor grandpa and grandma are babysitting.  It is nice to have some time off, but I don't get paid, so there is that.  I work today and tomorrow and then not again until the 26th.  Our greatest hope is that Joe's procedure will happen during this hiatus!  Lift a prayer, please!  I feel like God is controlling this and my time off is for a reason!

Friday I saw my friend, Dawn, for a facial.  I haven't gone since before Thanksgiving.  It felt so good and was fun talking and catching up while she worked her magic on my skin.  If you haven't had a facial, give it a try.  It is wonderful.

On Saturday I got to sleep late which was so nice.  Did our laundry, made meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for our dinner (comfort food, diner-style).  I also prepared a casserole for the potluck luncheon at the church on Sunday.

After the services, tables were set up out on the veranda and the big spread of food was inside. Oh my goodness.... chicken, lots of pasta dishes, fruit, dressed eggs, iced tea, lemonade, water, a table full of desserts...

We sat with new folks (everyone is new to us) and got to know more people. The Pastor sat with us for a while and talked. It was a lovely time with our new church family.  We were sitting in the middle... there were at least three more tables full down the other direction.

There is a large fenced in yard for the kids, including swings,
climbing things, a sandbox, and a basketball court.

I took this from our parking spot.  We always park in front,
but there is a big parking lot behind the church too.

I stopped to take this from the street as we left.

I had leftover casserole and leftover meatloaf so didn't have to cook last night (or tonight)!! Love leftovers!  This week, Joe has his appointment with the vascular surgeon on Wednesday, he has fasting labs Wednesday morning and an appointment with his VA doctor on Thursday morning.  We are having dinner with our neighbors, Jill and Murray, Thursday night.  They haven't been to our local (and authentic) Mexican restaurant so we are going there. Yum!  We invited Helen and Cheryl for dinner after church on St. Patrick's Day.  I need to get some corned beef so we can have our Irish meal of corned beef and cabbage.  They have Kellys in their family history... we say often that we are probably related back along the family lines somewhere!

Wishing you a good week ahead!!  I thank you for your visit today!!  Thanks too for the prayers said for my brother-in-law, Bruce.  He got home from the hospital on Friday!!  Praise God.

Peace & Hugs!!  God Bless!!

  7. Good news about Bruce. Looking for good news on the scheduling of Joe's procedure with respect for your time off from work.

I'm glad prayers have been answered with the finding of your new church and that they are so very welcoming. All good reports.

  8. I truly believe everything happens for a reason … of course, I'm holding y'all in my prayers. Nope, I've still never indulged in a facial … probably I'm afraid of becoming hooked. What I wouldn't give for an opportunity to sleep late! That's what I get for having dogs instead of kitties!

  12. Sounds like a great weekend, with such good food at home and at church! Love that you are getting involved in your new church and that you are both feeling more at home there. That is great. Praying all goes well this week with Joe's appts., etc, and also for the timing for his procedure while you are off work. Praying also that God will stretch your funds while you aren't working. He is able. Please take care and enjoy your time off as much as you can!!
