Weekend Recap on Monday...

Monday's do roll around fast these days, not to mention the months!  We had a good weekend, even though I had to work on Saturday morning.

On Friday, Joe and I went down to the farm (his client).  It was a beautiful day! No humidity, low 80s, and a sunshiny blue sky!!

The boys were happy to get carrots.  Majesty got some too, but she
took off when she realized they were gone.  I still got some love
from the boys for a while.

The flowers were blooming in the owner's new garden area.

Arya and Coby were running around, playing hard!

Such a lovely view from the house. I would never get tired of it.

On the way out, this one watched us as we drove by, daring us to get closer! Ha!

On Friday night, we went to Olive Garden with Al and Theresa.  It was fun catching up with them and hearing about their new Grandson, James.  We all had great dinners!

I had to work on Saturday morning.  Our neighbor's, Sharon and Bob, invited us to a little party on Saturday evening.  There were a dozen of us for hamburgers and hotdogs. There was also shrimp cocktail, a cheese plate, veggie platter, fried wontons, potato salad, baked beans, French fries and a delicious pineapple cake for dessert. We were full!!  The company was good and there was lots of laughter. We are so blessed in this community!

Yesterday we went to Sunday School, then to church.  Joe has never been to Sunday School!!  He said he enjoyed it!  Classes to join Redeemer PCA will start in 3-4 weeks and takes 6 weeks. Next Sunday is the monthly potluck after services. A great way to meet more people.  Feeling good about our new church family.  We have Ash Wednesday services on Wednesday evening.  It feels good that we will follow the Liturgical calendar in this church!

I am working this morning and will rush home to get Joe to his CT Scan at 1:30.  Fingers crossed and prayers lifted that the vascular system looks good and we can get the TAVR scheduled!!

I mentioned a few days ago that my brother-in-law, Bruce, was back in the hospital.  He has rallied and is doing so well that he will probably go home on Tuesday.  Praise God!! Your prayers have been appreciated and please keep him on your prayer lists for a while yet. So blessed!!

Thanks for your visit today!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. Praying for Joe's appt. this afternoon. We know God is working! So happy that you have found a church that your are enjoying and that Joe even likes S.S. That is great! We love our S.S. class at our church. And my hubby will be taking care of the Ash Wednesday service this week. Our previous churches that we served in did not observe the liturgical calendar, so this will be a first for us to participate in Ash Wed., as well for John to preach at it. Should be very special. I also love following the Lit. Calendar, as it brings so much more meaning into the seasons and Holy Days. I love your farm pics. The animals all seem to love to show off for you!! And I love that you are making so many nice friends in your community...that is such a blessing. We are hoping when we move to be able to get more actively involved in the church community as well as whatever neighborhood we end up in. Pray, pray pray!! Have a blessed day my friend. Praying all will go well for you both.

  5. Very surprising to me. I didn't know there were churches that didn't follow the liturgical cycle.

Speaking of which - tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday and for those of us living in metropolitan areas with a significant Polish population that means pączki (pronounced poonch-key). A special Polish pastry. Similar to a jelly doughnut but much richer and more substantial. The idea was to use all of the butter, etc to prepare the household for strict religious Lenten fasting. Which I observe. Usually I get traditional prune filling.

  10. So glad to hear Bruce is doing well!!!
& I'm shocked Joe never went to Sunday School class. But really, that's not as typical as it used to be, is it? I love he's still branching out into new things at this church though!!!

    1. Catholics don't have Sunday School for any age group and he is a cradle Catholic. I grew up Methodist with lots of Sunday School and MYF.

    2. Again very surprising to me. Did Joe attend parochial school?

Catholic children not attending the parish school or the girls' school were required to attend catechism lessons to receive the sacraments (confession, communion, confirmation) throughout grade school.

My friend Spewgie and I and a few other classmates were given the responsibility of "Sunday School" for the pre-kindergarten set for a few months. We'd reenact Bible stories on the felt board or with sock puppets. More babysitting than instructional.

I think it was more entertaining for us. There was one morning that Moses (played by Spewgie) was crying and crying in the bulrushes because Pharaoh's daughter (yours truly) had to bathe in the Nile. Then she had to shampoo. Then she had to condition her hair. And blow dry it.

  12. Good news on your BIL, Bruce! Praying today's test goes well for Joe.

Sunday School -- you should do very well with it, especially since you enjoy meeting with people as you do in your neighborhood. Small groups of like-minded Believers can be so supportive during the good and bad times.

That bull, -- yeah, I'd leave him be!

  13. I hope the CT scan was good so that Joe can have the valve replacement. Prayers here. Green grass and flowers? What a beautiful sight!! It's gotta be fun to visit that place. Joe will find the PCA a very different church. I'm glad you're enjoying the people there.

  15. Oh those pictures of the farm and that weather!!! I am really jealous right now!! We have been having such frigid weather. I did hear the weatherman say today that this is the coldest day we will have until next winter. Yea!!!

I'm so happy for you and Joe finding a church you both enjoy and where you feel at home and fed.
