Weekend Recap on Monday...

The weekends are fun, even when I have to work on Saturdays (but more fun when I don't!).  Friday, my day off, Joe and I ran some errands in the morning and I did laundry and some cleaning in the afternoon.  Joe went to play Nickles but I stayed home, begging off with the excuse that I have to work on Saturday. Actually, only six people showed up instead of the usual 20 or so because most of them had gone to some special event at the Elks Club.  Joe said it was still fun.

While we were out and about, I did get a photo of the Southside Cleaners sign...

At work on Saturday, three of our eight patients called to reschedule so it was an easier day than I anticipated. The doc closed the office at noon instead of 12:30.  His daughter gave birth a week ago and his wife has been staying with them in Orlando, so the doc is driving back and forth most every evening and morning. This baby is the first boy, with three grandgirls born before this little guy. I get to see new pictures most mornings. Very cute.

Saturday evening we had Helen and Cheryl over for ham and bean soup, cornbread, and salad.  We totally forgot that Saturday was the Chili cook-off at the Clubhouse. How dumb was that?! We bought tickets and then forgot all about it.  We still enjoyed our evening.

It started raining Saturday night and the temperatures dropped into the 40s.  We are to have highs only in the low 60s all week.

Sunday we decided to not brave the rain and cold to go to church, and just stayed under the covers until after 9:00.  We had a nice breakfast/brunch and then I made some pizzelles so I could take some next door to Jill and Murray, who invited us for dinner.

We had a good time and our neighbors, Sharon & Bob, were also invited.  We played a new-to-us card game called Wizard.  It was fun and Jill prepared a good dinner for us with key lime pie for dessert.

Last week I posted about the woman who boards horses at the farm we visit each week and her daughter and friend who were preparing for a 4-H competition with their horses.  I pulled these photos from Erica's Facebook page to share.  Her daughter did quite well for her first time in competition!  She was riding Mater.

Off to work this morning... in the rain.  Wishing you all a good week ahead!!

Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  8. That Southside Cleaners' sign is so funny! (Yes, my Tom wears his all the time!) I sure miss lingering in bed on Sunday mornings. One of the perks of having cats v. dogs with little bladders!

  10. Sounds like you had fun even if you did miss the chili fest! LOL I have never heard of Nickles or Wizard but any games where friends gather is always fun. I am glad you are so connected there.

I bet that baby will be one spoiled little boy...and not a thing wrong with that. Have a great Monday/week. xo Diana

  13. Our rain finally stopped sometime during the night last night, but boy! It sure poured all day Sunday. We did go to church, but it was a long, wet, cold ride! Then we went out to lunch after with our kids and the pastor and some others from the church, so that warmed us all up. Wow! Your little friend sure did win some ribbons! That is amazing!! She is quite the little horse-woman already! What fun! Take care and have a blessed and beautiful week, in spite of the cold weather. At least it isn't snowing.

  16. Always enjoy reading your weekend recaps. What a shame about the chilli contest but at least you enjoyed your evening. Looks like the little horserider did really well! Weather has been much colder here too - down to freezing some nights. I'm glad of my central heating and warm coat that we got for our recent travels.
