** Wowie... I am so thankful that I decided to look at the turkeys while grocery shopping at Harvey's yesterday! I assumed that the best turkey prices would be this weekend or early next week. I could not believe my eyes... 28¢ a pound with a Winn Dixie/Harvey's card. I found a 16.6-pound bird for $4.65. I think I may go back for another one to put in the freezer for later.
** Joe usually goes shopping with me, but he opted out. When I got home, I told him I had a surprise for him... Eggnog!! He loves it! I can barely stand the smell, but he just loves the stuff (and does not put liquor in it). Thankful I could surprise him!! Tis the season!
** I am thankful for dear former co-workers who are still friends. I asked three people for reference letters for next weeks part-time job interview and got all three within a day. My former boss is on vacation in France and she even took the time to do one for me. I would hire me from reading what they all wrote!! LOL
I love each and every one of these amazing people!!
** This Saturday, a former co-worker and her hubby are coming over for dinner. It will be a great evening catching up with them. I haven't seen Kalisa and Don in months and months.
** Another former co-worker/friend is coming on Sunday afternoon to help us get our Christmas decorations out of the 'attic' in our shed. Al (you have read about Al & Theresa before) helped us put them away last year, too. Bless him for his help! He is still a youngster, under 60!! Ha ha.
** Thankful we could get an appointment at Bartow Ford this afternoon for an oil change and tire rotation. It is on our way home from the farm (Joe's client) so will work out perfectly. One of the tires has a slow leak in it so we are hoping they can figure that out too. They HAVE to figure it out!! Joe can't put air in the tires anymore and it is hard for me to do too. We did find out that WAWA has FREE air at their service stations! Much nicer than putting six quarters into a machine that sometimes doesn't even work. Sigh.

Yep - my mom used to always get a turkey when it was on sale for Thanksgiving & go ahead & get another one for Christmas. Then its one less thing to worry about in the holidays.
Great price on that turkey. I would get another one for sure. What is this about a part time job??? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thankful for my wonderful husband, Danny, who does so much for all of us, and for the upcoming Thanksgiving Day. We will have both our moms with us for the feast, plus children and grands. We are so blessed.

That turkey deal was truly amazing. I never heard of nobody getting a turkey that size for that price. You are blessed with so many friends and I hope you find the part time job a good fit and get it. We rely on Discount Tires for our tires. We can't put air in ours either. I didn't think I liked eggnog, but last year Jason made some and it was pretty good.

That turkey looks great. I wonder if Winn Dixie has that same deal? I will be looking for our turkey on Monday, as we are not eating until Friday. I don't really have room in the freezer for it, so want to get it when I can start thawing it in the fridge. We will be having a large crowd, so I may opt to get two smaller turkeys instead of one huge one. That way we will have double parts...thighs, legs, wings, breasts, etc. Anyway, may God bless you in the job search. Eggnog is okay.

That's quite a bargain you found on the turkey; Tom agreed, we're letting our fav BBQ joint fry one on our behalf, and I'll prepare the sides. I SO LOVE eggnog (sans alcohol), but it SO loves my hips. Perhaps one little quart at Christmas?
ReplyDeleteThat is a really good buy on turkeys! Ours was $.37 a pound. We haven't bought eggnog yet, but you can be sure that it will find its way into our cart soon.
ReplyDeleteWe have our Christmas tree up and most of the decorations. It wasn't a day too soon because last night we had a big ice storm and continued through the day. Tonight is supposed to be awful.....trees falling, people falling, accidents....power outages. Not good! Winter has arrived!
