Saturday 9 Time...

The Love Club

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

The Love Club (2013)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.

1) Lorde has said this song is about a time when she fell into "a bad crowd." Her high-maintenance new friends were all about their romantic dramas and it overwhelmed her. Have you ever had a friend who was just too much work?  Yes, indeed. It was a long time ago and I have no idea where she is now. I try to avoid high-maintenance connections now.

2) She sings that she longs to be alone. Where do you go when you want peace and quiet?  My kitchen, early in the morning before Joe joins me for breakfast. It is my morning devotion and prayer time. When I don't get it, my day is sometimes more unsettled.

3) Lorde credits her mother for encouraging her verbal skills. "Mum" let her join a theater class when she was just 5 and was always giving her books. Tell us about an encouraging, understanding adult who assisted you when you were growing up.  I have to say my parents and especially my mom. Blessed that way!

4) Lorde is not the only celebrity from her class at Belmont School in Auckland, New Zealand. Olympian Eliza McCartney was a classmate who went on to win a bronze medal in Rio for the pole vault. Did you participate in any sports in high school? Yes. I ran track.  I was also on the girls' basketball team for a brief season (hated girls' half-court rules basketball).  Marching band was my passion back then.

6) Lorde wrote music for one of the Hunger Games soundtracks. Have you seen any of the Hunger Games movies, or read any of the books?  Yes, I read all the books and have seen the movies.  As usual, the books are better (but the movies are good).

7) Her favorite candy is Peanut M&Ms. Do you prefer Milk Chocolate, Peanut, Almond, Mint or Crispy M&Ms?  I prefer the peanut M&Ms but will not turn down any of them! LOL

8) When Lorde was on stage at Lollapalooza, a sudden storm interrupted her set. The music festival was evacuated and her performance was canceled. Can you think of a time when the weather had a major impact on your plans?  Yes indeed. Hurricane Irma most recently.

9) Random question: Please complete this sentence -- Before I leave the house, I always check for my phone and lock the door.

Thanks so much to Crazy Sam for this week's Saturday 9!!  You can join the fun HERE!

Happy weekend, Y'all!  Thanks for your visit.  Peace & hugs!

    1. Sandi, I don't choose the subject for this meme. Crazy Sam does this one for us every Saturday. Half the time, I have no idea who the artist is that she chooses.

  2. Mornings before everyone gets up are my quiet time too. My day just doesn't start right without it.
    Have a great weekend!

  3. Q1 - My "friendly" electricity company was high-maintenance. You should have seen the invoices they sent!

Q2 - When I want peace and quiet and to be alone, I use garlic after-shave!

Q3 - My parents encouraged me to read by giving me a set of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. I stood on the books to reach the cookies jar on the high shelf.

Q7 - I like all chocolate covered sweets. I would eat a piece of wood if it was covered in chocolate.

    Q8 - I tripped on a snow flake once.

Q9 - Before I leave the house, I always turn over the furniture, empty all the drawers on the floor, throw the pictures on the floor and make a mess. That way, if a burglar comes in he will think we have already been burgled and he will leave us alone.

    God bless.

  5. I must either be too old or out of the loop, because I dont know who Lorde is. I do, however, try to avoid high maintenance people. I do check that the door is locked and that I have my phone and purse when leaving the house. I wasnt very athletic in school but was a cheerleader. I do enjoy watching sports tho! Hope you have a very nice Saturday and weekend Terri.

  6. You brought back quite a memory... yes! the old half court basketball. I was a guard so you know what that meant! Heaving the thing down the court to the "real" basketball players!! Have a wonderful day...

  7. I love my quiet time, but usually take intentional time in the mid-afternoon, just to calm down from the day's demands. It works! Have a great weekend, Terri, and thanks for visiting my blog.
    Blessings!

  8. I'd never heard of Lorde, but enjoyed these questions.
My early-morning 'alone' time -- well, not counting the pups -- is precious for me, as well. Sacred, almost.

  9. What a cool blogpost idea.

I liked reading your answers and finding out more stuff about you. I had no idea you ran track in high school and was on the basketball team! So cool!
