Funny Valentine Saturday 9...

Thanks to Sam Winters for this week's Saturday 9!  You can join the fun HERE!

My Funny Valentine

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: My Funny Valentine (1991)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Ms. Kitt sings that her lover is her favorite work of art. Tell us about a piece of artwork you can see from where you're sitting now. (Yes, that crayon drawing created by your 5-year-old nephew counts.)  I am in the living room and can see quite a few works of art.  The one I can see without turning my head is a photograph taken by our friend Gregory, who is multi-talented including being a photographer and photography teacher. It was gifted to me for my 20th anniversary at the Museum and is a sunset photo of Lakeland's beautiful Lake Mirror.  I took it all over the house to try to get a glare-free picture of it and this is the best I got.  We have a very bright house (a good thing!). You can still see the reflection of the bookcase and the ceiling.  The photo really is amazing.

2) She asks him to not change his hair. When will you next find yourself in the stylist's chair?  Not for four weeks since we just saw Teena this week. I've gone even shorter and am loving it!

3) Ms. Kitt always wanted to be a performer and attended the New York School of Performing Arts (aka the "Fame" school). Think back to your high school self. In what ways would you be surprised by how your life turned out?  Oh, my. Where I am is so far away from where my high-school-self thought I was headed.  Every aspect is a surprise if I am to compare it to me in the 1960s.

4) Ms. Kitt took over the role of Catwoman on TV's Batman. Name another Batman villain.  The Joker, of course!

5) Ms. Kitt enjoyed tremendous success performing in Parisian nightclubs. Have you ever been to Paris?  No.  France is not a country I have ever had a desire to visit.

This is the last Saturday 9 before Valentine's Day and so this morning we shall focus on the upcoming holiday.

6) The holiday is also known as The Feast of St. Valentine. Do you have a special meal planned for next Wednesday?  No.  Not yet anyway. We never make a big deal about Valentine's Day. Cards exchanged is about it.

7) The phrase "wear your heart on your sleeve" began in medieval times. On Valentine's Day, men would celebrate the holiday by displaying their lady love's name on their sleeves. If you were going to adopt this custom, whose name would you wear?  Joe, of course!

8) Women buy and send more Valentines than men do. What's the last greeting card you received?  I've had a few thank-you notes since Christmas, but no greeting card since then, so my answer is Christmas.  (UPDATE: I received a valentine in yesterday's mail from a blogging friend!! Thank you - you know who you are!)

9) Men buy and send more roses at Valentine's Day than women do. What's your favorite flower?  I like daisies, but I would just as soon not receive flowers for any occasion.  It's not that I don't appreciate flowers.  I have no place to display them where the cats can't reach them. I just don't have plants or cut flowers in the house because they will be destroyed.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Happy weekend!  Peace & hugs.

  1. the photograph is beautiful and has so much meaning for you. I am not much of a valentine person either. love me all year, and not just one day....I know what you mean about live flowers or plants....shredded back when I had my 2 cats. Enjoy your Saturday.

  2. Sunset photo is beautiful.
Daisies are my fave too. Hubby gets me flowers a couple times a year. Our house is very dark so they really brighten up the house.
    Have a great day!

  4. I absolutely love sunsets and so that print would be one I would enjoy immensely. And I love that you tried all over the place to get a pic without a reflection. I did the very same thing and finally gave up! We don't make a big deal about Valentine's Day. We always went out for special dinner a day or two before because the crowds are ridiculous. Our church always does something seocisl for Valentine's Day and he young people babysit for the couples to enjoy their evening. I like that.

  5. Great questions! Favorite flower is the lilac -- short, but glorious season. I'm looking at a painting of lavender fields in Provence done by a friend of mine. It makes me feel good every time I look at it.

  7. Right now, in my house, I can see an original painting of the Holy Spirit. See it here: http://timeforreflections.blogspot.co.uk/2018/01/the-missing-logic.html

Talking of Valentine's Day. They say an elephant never forgets. I don't agree. I have never received a Valentine card from an elephant; or a birthday card either.

    God bless.

  8. That sunset photograph is beautiful! But more so, I think, knowing from where it came.
I'm not 'big' on flowers either, but daisies are such happy creatures ... how can you not smile back at them? :)

  9. That is truly a beautiful piece of art! I know you treasure it.
I'm getting a haircut on Friday. It's driving me bonkers, so I can't wait.
When Oliver lived here we couldn't have flowers either. He always tried to bite them and would tip them over! Naughty cats!

  10. You did a good job snapping the picture of Gregory's photograph. I've had the same problem in the past. It's tricky with the glass and the glare. But it's a good picture all the same!
