Weekend Recap on Monday....

First things first....can you believe it is MAY already?!!  Three more months, my friends.  Three more months!!

Our son, Joey, arrived on Friday afternoon.  I told him he is a glutton for punishment!  Bless him!!

We took him out to eat with us, meeting friends Teena and Randy at Longhorn Steakhouse.  If you read my blogs last week, you know that Teena is our barber and was also the conduit for the sale of our house to her clients, the Bayhans.  It was a delicious meal and wonderful company.  Sorry, no pictures of our evening at Longhorn.  I just didn't think about it.  I had the porterhouse pork chop. It was delicious.

Saturday we slept late which felt wonderful. I made us a good breakfast - cinnamon rolls!  Real nutritious - ha!  Joey got to work on putting our new twin beds together. It was a huge job and took nearly six hours.  He is meticulous and they are perfect.  You can't really see in the picture, but they both have two drawers in the base.

The beds were just a little too big to go beside each other on the same wall and still keep the dresser in the room. I was bummed but we started thinking 'outside the box' and decided to just put one against the long wall and the other one opposite with the dresser beside it.  I still have to put art on the walls, but I did put the comforters on and got the curtains hung....

I made linguini and meatballs for our dinner, with a good salad and some garlic bread.  Well fed, we sat in front of the TV the rest of the evening.

Sunday morning was a replay of Saturday morning, but I did make us a breakfast of hash browns, scrambled eggs and bacon.  The two Joes took off for the storage unit to rescue our Christmas decorations.  They emptied out the unit and were back in record time.  They got everything put up in the loft, in the shed, and Joe is thrilled to also have some of the other things put up out of the way

He can start working on organizing his shed now.  Hopefully there is room for a small workbench now.  I put a turkey breast in the crock pot Sunday morning so it was falling apart by dinner time. I made mashed potatoes and green beans to go with it, and also a salad.  I also got the laundry done while the boys watched sports on TV.

Backing up to Friday, I had a few visitors at work.  First of all, Paisley girl paid me a visit. She is the fur-baby of my friend and co-worker Gregory.

When I moved out of my office and into a common area at work, I had to pack up some trinkets that had been acquired over the nearly 20 years I occupied that space with built in bookshelves.  Everyone knows I am a cat lady, so many small cat trinkets have been given to me over time.  My co-worker, Diana, and her family just got a new kitten (Skylar) and the boys just love her.  I asked Diana if the boys would like my cat collection and she said of course.  She picked them up from school on Friday and brought them in so I could give it to them.  She sent me this picture of them showing their dad all the cats later that evening.  I'm tickled that they liked them!!

So that was my weekend. I got word that Cheryl and Pat arrived home in Indiana safely.  I also heard from my BFF Elaine's little sister, Peggy.  Peggy is between my two sisters, in age, so she was a nusiance little sis, just like my two were way back when we lived across the street from each other.  Peggy is married to Kirk and is all grown up now (smiling).  They are in Florida this week and wanted to come to Lakeland and have lunch on Tuesday.  Of course, I am excited and will try to get Tuesday afternoon off so we can spend some time visiting.  I haven't seen her in years.  They live near Columbus, Ohio. It will be fun catching up with them!!

Thanks for checking in today!  Wishing you all a good week ahead!  Peace & hugs.

  3. So sweet about giving the cat trinkets to the boys. It helped you declutter and made it like a gift-giving holiday to them.

  10. Hi friend! Finally getting back to check in with you and others who have I'm sure forgotten all about me. Sounds like you've been busy as always but productive. I have a blog entry in my drafts, I just have to finish it. It's going to be a long one. Life has been difficult but I do want to tell my story and hopefully get back to normal again soon. God bless!

  11. I like the way you resolved that problem. I have thought about replacing one of our guest queen beds with twins for the kids. Sounds like a lot was accomplished and you did a great job feeding everybody. Yummy! Those boys are so cute with the cats.

  12. I don't know who's cuter, Paisley or Diana's boys! :)
The twin beds' set-up is a great idea ... like they're designed to encourage between their occupants.

Hope you get to take tomorrow afternoon off and really enjoy your friends!

  14. It sounds like you had a productive weekend. It is so wise to have the house move and settling in accomplished before your retirement, and this summer is going to fly by. I love it that you thought to give your cat collection to the kids who must have delighted in receiving it.
