First I want to revisit my Friday. My friend and co-worker, Gregory, belongs to the First United Methodist Church here in Lakeland. He is very involved in the church, helping with the sound for their contemporary service, and contributing his artwork and expertise in so many areas. (Gregory's dad is a retired minister.) The church is hosting an exhibit of photographs by our homeless population. Gregory reminded a few of us that the opening was Friday afternoon and we could vote for our favorite photo, so we walked over from the Museum (just a block away). I did not take photos inside, but here is the information on the church's website.
I did take some photos from the balcony that overlooks Lake Morton.
This is the Sorosis Building which belongs to and houses Lakeland's Junior League today.
This is a view of our beautiful Lake Morton that I've shown you before. Our bird lake.
On my way home Friday, I took another photo of Lake Hunter, which I pass every day, twice a day.
I still need to buy a lamp for the dresser, but I used those tins, which contain buttons, zippers, and various other sewing things, as decorating items. I think they add some interest and one way or the other, there is no other place for them, so it works for me! LOL
I'll be looking for a very small table to go beside this bed. Possibly at Kirkland's. It can't be more than eight inches wide and six would be better. I'll let you know what I find.
In the den, Vinny has claimed the cat tree as his own. The window looks out at the carport. Sometimes he watches whatever goes by but usually he is sleeping in this position.
I got the laundry done on Sunday. I made some chicken tortellini soup for our dinner, with biscuits and a salad. It hit the spot.
Now, on to one of our busiest weeks and weekends at the Museum. Mayfaire by-the-Lake is this coming weekend. It will be a very long two weeks, with no time off until the 20th of May. Next year, I'll be able to enjoy Mayfaire as a visitor!! Hooray!
Thanks for your visit! Have a blessed week ahead! Peace & hugs.

Vinny has the right idea, wink. Have a lovely Monday, Terri.
ReplyDeleteOur church up North hosted family promise for a week every two months. These were homeless families who rotated through the local churches staying overnite than during the day received training and support. What a wonderful idea regarding taking pictures. What we take for granted and never appreciate often is the wonderful lives we have been blessed with.
ReplyDeleteThe really interesting thing is that it was expected that they would photograph how bad their situation is, but instead they photographed the beauty around them. Stunning photos rather than sad angry photos. Says a lot!
DeleteHow heartwarming that in spite of their circumstances, they can still see beauty. :-)
DeleteUsing tins was a great idea. Decorative and useful.
ReplyDeleteVinny is such a cutie.
Have a great day!
Congrats on finishing the unpacking. I am sure you breathed a deep AHHH as you put those boxes out to the curb. ( or to recycling!). I always enjoy seeing pictures of your area Terri, it is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYay for the completion of unpacking....I've got some more to do, ya wanna come up and help me, LOL? Lovely shot of Lake Hunter. So nice Gregory's work is getting such well deserved exposure. Can't believe its Mayfair time again! Wow, time goes fast.
ReplyDeleteI know it felt good to get the last of the boxes unpacked. I think displaying the tins was a great idea, they add a little character to the room. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous you got laundry done. That to me is life goals ;)
ReplyDeleteA refrigerator in the den? That's handy! :-D
ReplyDeleteI have a heart for the homeless in my community....I always say, they have a mother and father somewhere that loves and misses them. I like to help where I can, and I applaud the church there for doing so. I really like the tins in the bedroom for decoration....things like that appeal much more to me than fancy things...lol I know it feels good to know all is emptied and now you can shift around if and when you want to. Rest now, cause you do have an extremely busy time coming up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a splendid idea, the "My Town" exhibit! I like what the author said about homelessness being a 'human challenge.'
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking really inviting. 8" wide, hmmm? We've had great luck last year with finding narrow chair-side tables on Overstock.com.
Thanks for the idea! I haven't visited overstock.com in a long time!
DeleteYou are a very busy woman! Your storage solutions are brilliant! And they work for you -- - it's your house and you like what's in it. That's how it should be. It gives it personality and makes it feel like home.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know it feels good to not have ANY boxes left to unpack. Your supper last night sounds so good. HOPE this week isn't too bad for you and you enjoy Mayfaire!
ReplyDeleteLake Morton is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that those boxes are unpacked. What a relief! Everything is looking good!
If you have a Home Goods try there too. Or Hobby Lobby. I find random sized furniture in both places, usually one of a kind, but that's all you need so might be worth a try. I have trouble finding furniture that isn't deep. I do know it feels good to have those boxes done! There are some in the garage I haven't touched, but they're on shelves so I just don't go in there : )
ReplyDeleteOh that Vinny! He looks so cute perched in his cat tree. He loves his new home!
