The Saturday 9.....

Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's Saturday 9!  Join in and link up HERE.

Heat of the Moment

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: The Heat of the Moment (1982)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) What's something you did or said "in the heat of the moment?"  I'm sure there are things I've said and then wished I had not, but right now nothing comes to mind.

2) Asia's founder and bass player, John Wetton, passed away in January. One of his bandmates remembered him as a reliable performer who made everyone around him look better. Do you enjoybeing the center of attention?  No.  Or would you, like Mr. Wetton, prefer to play a supporting role?  I am happy staying in the background.  I am not a "center of attention" kind of person.

3) Asia is a British band who played their first US concert at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. The nearest major city -- Ottawa, Canada -- is a 90-minute drive from Pottsdam. When you were last in the car for an hour or more?
Where were you going?
A month or so ago, we traveled up to my sister's house in Georgia.

4) The song refers to disco hot spots, which apparently, by 1982, no one wanted to go to anymore. Let's make that negative into a positive.Describe your perfect night out with friends. Where would you go?  At my age now, the perfect night out is at home (or their home) with dinner and good conversation and laughter.

5) In 1982, the year this song was popular, someone laced bottles of Tylenol with cyanide. That's why we now have tamper-proof caps on many products. Have you used anything in a tamper-proof bottle yet today?  Oh yes. I have daily prescriptions in tamper-proof bottles.

6) In 1982, Time Magazine's Person of the Year wasn't a person at all, it was "the computer." What do you use your computer for most often?  Work things and social media.
7) 1982 also saw the premiere of The Weather Channel. Where do you learn the day's weather forecast? (Watching the local news on TV, checking your phone, looking out the window ...)  We ask Alexa every day what the weather will be and then dress accordingly.

8) In 1982, Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie, Conan the Barbarian, was a hit in theaters. When you settle down to watch a movie, is it usually a fantasy, like Conan? Or do you prefer another genre (action, comedy, adventure, romance, drama, classic ...)  We're not really into fantasy but we both enjoy action, comedy and adventure movies.  Classic movies are also fun.

9) Random question: What is something you try to avoid?  Anything that steals my joy.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for your visit!  Happy Saturday!  Peace & hugs.

  2. I keep hearing about Alexa...so interesting. I have Accu Weather on my computer so I can check the weather here and in NoGA. I also look at our morning paper which gives a brief weather update. I have never heard of that band...have you?

  4. I totally agree with you on #2 .... and #4! Except, I'd trade doing dinner dishes for a cozy restaurant that's not so obsessed on rotating tables.
    Have yourselves a super Saturday!

  5. I have friends who live in Potsdam, NY and I've done the drive to Ottawa. The last time I was in the car for an hour was driving from Queens, NY to Brooklyn, NY. Not a lot of mileage, but a lot of traffic.

  6. Has Alexa stopped spying on you? LOL

    1. Not worried about it. If anything can be captured it is only seconds before and after she is activated and it is not stored anywhere. If our techie guy says it's okay, it's okay.
