Thanks to Samantha for this week's Saturday 9 Q & A!
Fist City
Saturday 9: Fist City (1968)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This song is about a wife warning another woman off her man. Who received the last warning, of any type, that you issued? Gosh, I haven't a clue. Probably someone driving too slow in front of me, and they didn't even hear what I said about them....
2) Loretta sings that when her husband picks up trash, he puts it in a garbage can. She's being metaphorical, but we will be literal: If you spot litter on the sidewalk, do you pick it up or just walk on? I must say that it depends on where it is and what it might be. At work, yes I usually pick it up. Out in a public place without gloves or a ready trash can...probably not.
3) She taught herself to play guitar. If you could learn something new in 2017, what would it be? I'm so tired right now that just the thought of trying to learn something new makes me shudder. I would love to pick up a guitar again (used to know a half dozen chords) and/or take a stab at the piano again.
4) She broke her shoulder in a fall and surgery was required to repair it. When were you last in a hospital? A year ago when Joe had his stroke. Were you a patient or a visitor? I was a visitor.
5) In the 1970s, Loretta Lynn was the first country singer to appear on the cover of Newsweek. Who is your favorite country singer? I was really "into" country music back in the 80s. I love a bunch of the oldies...Waylon, Hank, Jim Reeves (wow!), Ricky Scaggs, Alabama, Haggard, Loretta, the HeeHaw gang....
6) Rowan and Martin's Laugh In premiered in 1968, when this song was popular. What's the last TV show you watched? Walking Dead. Did you watch it live, did you stream it, or catch it on DVR/Tivo? DVR. We DVR nearly everything these days so we can skip the commercials.
7) In 1968, Jacqueline Kennedy shocked the world by marrying Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis. What's the last thing you heard that surprised you? I guess it sounds callous, but nothing much surprises me anymore. This world has gone crazy.
8) 1968's top-rated car was the Chevy Corvette. Could your car benefit from a trip to the car wash this morning? Oh my gosh yes!! This is pollen time here in Florida. My silver car looks like this one... a putrid greenish yellow. Yuck!!
9) Random question: You're staying in a hotel and find you can faintly hear the couple in the next room. Would you ignore their voices, or try to hear them better? Ignore!! We travel with one of those 'noise' machines so we can block out outside noises in hotels....
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Another weekend to concentrate on organizing and getting a few more boxes unpacked. We are really down to boxes with our "pretties" in them and I need to find a double bookshelf unit for the living room before I can get those out (shopping!). We also need to decide on artwork, but I don't want to start hanging things until curtains are up and we are sure about furniture placement. Ugh. Why does it take so long?! I'm old and set in my ways. I want this all done!! LOL
Thanks for your visit today! Peace, love & hugs.

I like all your Country choices! Very good music there.
ReplyDeleteMy answer for #7 was pretty much the same as yours. It would take a lot to surprise me these days...the world has indeed gone crazy.
Have I told you how happy I am for you, Terri? Hope you have a beautiful day, friend.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is you are done as far as being able to live "normally" again! The rest of the stuff is mainly fun it sounds like - - - take some time to just sit back and do nothing if you are able. Your body will appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI am a person who can cope with some things left untouched because my body needs recharging more. However the coworker I had for 10 years would keep going until the finish line. I admired her but could not keep up with that.
I admire all you and Joe got accomplished and am so thankful it is this date instead of a month ago!
You are so right, this world has gone crazy!! Now that you've got the necessities unpacked and put away, take your time with the rest. I know, the goal is to get it done, but slowing down a bit will make the rest of your 'to-do' list less tiring. It will all get done in due time and you'll be able to enjoy the fruit of your labor!
ReplyDeleteOur one car is polka dotted. It sits under a tree and the birds were nice enough to decorate it. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I think we like things in order and it drives us crazy until it is done. But you have already done so much and it wont be much longer. Then you can relax.
ReplyDeleteI just say, no to country music. Unless it's someone like Patsy Cline or the songs that are more old time gospel than country. The pollen is killing me but my allergies have been bad for two years since winter has stayed away for the last two years. How's the unpacking going? All done? Reni, Evan and Baby M just bought a house. They closed Thursday. We're going over today to steam clean the floors and take some measurements. I volunteered to keep Marcy on moving day. I'm not a fan of moving but I am a fan of her. LOL
ReplyDeleteI continue to marvel at how much you've been able to accomplish with the sale of one house and the buying/moving to of another, and we're not even half-way into March!
ReplyDeleteYou are very smart to hold off on hanging the art work until you feel more certain about your furniture placement and the window coverings. With all you are getting accomplished now, by the time you retire, you can really PLAY!
I hope your weekend is productive!
Loved your solution to #9! Moot point now, but I strongly suspect my workplace was built "on-the-cheap" back in '99. Our guests are constantly commenting/complaining about the thin walls.
ReplyDeleteGood for you about picking up litter around your office. That's an expectation of ours, as well ... but I refuse to touch anything that appears ooo-ey or goo-ey. Some people are so thoughtless.
