I peeked at the Sunday Stealing meme last night and decided I was too tired to think of that many answers! Ha!
We got up early yesterday to get going but got going first at IHOP for breakfast. I think everyone in Lakeland was out for breakfast yesterday! It was crowded!
Since IHOP is in Walmart's parking lot, we went there for curtain rods. Best place to buy hardware. They were half the cost of Bed Bath & Beyond. I'm still searching for curtains, though. Good golly, no one has kitchen or bathroom swags anymore. I guess they are out of style right now. I'll have to do another on-line search I guess, or change my 'wants' and pick something else.
I'm not a Target shopper, but out of desperation, we did stop there. They have swatches hanging with tags that tell you to order them online. I found a couple of textures and colors I liked so took a photo of the tag to do my research later.
This has sure been a learning experience. I'm not one to change things once I find what I like. In 28 years (almost) at the old house, I maybe changed curtains and paint twice in most of the rooms.
We hadn't seen our good friends, Helen and Cheryl, for a couple of weeks, so I called to see if they wanted to meet us for supper at Panera. We went to 4:00 Mass and met them at Panera shortly after 5:00. I had my usual broccoli and cheddar soup with the ham and swiss sandwich for my Pick-Two. It was good! They came back to the house for a visit afterward. They hadn't been here since the move so it was changed big time!
Yesterday afternoon, my friend Betty popped in to welcome us to Mas Verde. She has lived here for more than 10 years and is the "welcome lady". She took information from us for a "bio" that will appear in the April Mas Verde Newsletter. She answered some questions we had about the HOA and some of the activities. I've known Betty since 1998/99 when I joined the church women's group. She was President that year and recruited me for a couple of committees. She and her husband Ken moved here when he retired. Not long after, he got really sick and died a couple of years later. There are a few folks in here who go to our church.
Today is a work day. Laundry and trying to get a few more boxes emptied. I also need to start organizing some of the spaces where things have just been 'put'. I miss my laundry room cupboards and that garage!! LOL JUNK. JUNK. JUNK.
Thanks for popping in and following this crazy move!! I appreciate your advice!! Love & hugs.
Sounds like you are having a very nice weekend. I hear you on the junk, junk, junk. It sure does accumulate...even if you're trying to be good. I recently went through our master bath and threw out an entire garbage bag of stuff that had been in the medicine cabinet (I'll give you that it's a big one) and vanity. Why we kept most of it I'll never know.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Until you have been through a move after many years, you cannot imagine how hard it is. If we were 18 again, it would be a whiz, but not these days. I just applaud your organization and know when all is done, it will be as beautiful as you are. Glad you enjoyed being with friends, which took your mind off sorting and unloading for a bit. Have a good day today! Hugs
ReplyDeleteWho said, "inch by inch, anything's a cinch!" You can do this...just take your time and enjoy the ride. I had to make curtains for my bedroom...and I used sheets that I bought from Walmart. They are plain, no pattern on them, but when the bedspread has a pattern, it's probably better to go with a solid color. Oh, but you said bathroom and kitchen...hmmm, I got my kitchen valances from Walmart (5 yrs. ago) and they are "Better Homes and Garden" brand. I love them. You can see them in the header picture on my blog page. Yes, you may need to shop online...so much easier to do these days than running to every store in town. Good luck and God bless!
ReplyDeleteI think you've accomplished a lot in such a short time! As for JUNK, JUNK, JUNK... I have that problem since we've lived in the same place for over 37 years. As much as I've gotten rid of, it still seems everything else has multiplied! Kinda depressing! Hope you get some rest today!
ReplyDeleteI AM.NOT.LOOKING.FORWARD.TO.MOVING.AGAIN...sorry for shouting, unfort...wherever I get a job, we will have to move...sigh. Before we moved here, we had one of those shipping containers full of stuff---going through it all took time...sigh
ReplyDeleteWe painted our rooms last year and I couldn't find any curtains I liked anywhere. I ended up keeping the ones I had. Hope you find some you like. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good "eats" day.. love Paneras twofer.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE BB&B but only shop there with coupons - - which you receive tons of them when you give them an email address! I have never had time to change things up much but it is difficult for me to decide what to do when it is time to do it. Sherwin Williams paint collections has helped us match colors that are beautiful. God gives me ideas for accessories by prompting me to shop at certain times. I have no fashion or color sense!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can find the window treatments you want. Over the years, I resorted to sewing my own valances until we could afford to have have shutters installed. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sunday Stealing's questions were a bit 'much'!
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I looked everywhere for bathroom swags to cover our high, narrow window over the tub ... to no avail. Let me know if you find any will you? :)
That's pretty neat about Mas Verde 'introducing' y'all via their newsletter. I'd love to live in such a community someday.
Terri I got some valances on line at Piper Classics. I was fortunate and hit the end of the year sales. Country Curtains have them as well but they are rather pricy. I have purchased from them and the quality is excellent.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to find curtains you like online - I like to see them in person! I had the same issue finding something for our living room. Hope you find something soon.
ReplyDeletePanera is always good. Glad you were ale to spend time with your friends.
I love your newsy post, Terri. Sounds like a nice time with friends. Hope you find the curtains you like. I'm not likely to change paint and curtains once I find something I like. Doing nothing is so much easier than doing something. LOL. Please pray for us tomorrow. It will be Tuppence's last day. She has gotten extremely thin and developed a tumor on her forehead. She's been such a sweet kitty and with us almost 17 years. Three of our kids were here to say goodbye to her this weekend.
ReplyDeleteNice to connect with friends...friends and family make a house a home.
