Several folks asked to see our new bedspread. It did indeed come yesterday, so here is a picture:
I really need two more shams and think I'll go with that medium (fernish) green or the gold/cream color for the curtains. Could even do a navy. What do you think? It also needs a skirt. I hoped it would be longer, like a bedspread, but it's not. Our master bathroom is light blue and the bedroom is white. I'm happy with it. So is Lilly!! :)
Had a good lunch with my friends yesterday. Melody is doing well after her throat cancer surgery. She has to eat slowly with little bites and she has burn marks on her neck from the radiation. She is still growing in her hair but her wig looks very natural. Cindee is doing well after the electrodes were surgically inserted in her brain for her Parkinson's disease. The difference is amazing. Shirley lost her 18-year-old dog, Babe, a couple of months ago, and she and Don are now looking for another dog. She said they really miss having a pup around. So....all good news and lunch was tasty too!! We've all been through some tough times. It's great having friends you can count on for spiritual and moral support. Melody and I have been friends since 1999. Cindee and I have been friends since 2001. Shirley was Melody's neighbor when she and Bob lived here in Lakeland, so we just kind of pulled her into our circle too. Cindee and Melody both used to work at the Museum with me.
They decided to give me a pass on seeing the house without curtains and with boxes still here and there. I think they also all wanted to go to Marshall's and Ross (same shopping center as the restaurant). I had to go back to work. Four more months and I'll be able to go shopping with them instead of back to work!! It's coming....RETIREMENT!!
Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs!!

I'm glad you had a nice lunch. YOur new bedspread is pretty. I'm partial to blue so I would go with navy but green would be nice too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Your bedspread is pretty. I would get some green pillow shams and matching curtains. Gold or navy would work too. As you see, I'm absolutely no help with choosing a color. LOL. So glad you had a nice visit with your friends. You are going to love retirement. It took me a year to get into the groove, but now it's great!
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful friends.I enjoyed reading how the Lord has been at work in their circumstances.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bedspread not reaching down as far as you wanted. That is just about a soapbox issue for me. Mattresses can vary so much in depth with the pillow tops (feature on the mattress) adding even more to the problem. I've been dealing with that issue all this week on the 2 new mattresses we bought for our bed and the guest room. Makes me want to scream!
I am so in love with quilt bedspreads. I have one in my back bedroom & baby that thing because I dont want anything happening to it.
ReplyDeleteBedspread is pretty! Nice to see you enjoying time with friends, it's one of my favorite things to do!! btw, why don't they make 'real' bedspreads anymore. Seems they all need bedskirts. I will say this, our bed is high that might be my problem! lol Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful new bedspread! I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in your bedspread. I'd go with the green for shams and curtains if you want a softer look...navy for a something a bit less casual.
ReplyDeleteRetirement....I am years away from it, but oh, how I look forward to the day. So exciting that yours is so close and then there will be plenty of time to play!
Your bedspread is so pretty...wise choice my friend. Time spent with friends is very special and glad you got to do just that. Have a nice weekend, and dont over-do! xoxox
ReplyDeleteLove the new bedspread! Is it more like a quilt? I really like it. I can't believe retirement is so close! All that free time! WooHOO!
ReplyDeleteLove the bedspread too. I think maybe pick up on the dark blue since your bathroom is blue, and I think it will make the colors pop more. It really is lovely. Isn't it wonderful to meet with "old friends", especially when you know they've been through such difficult times and are still able to be with you and celebrate LIFE! That means so much. Friends are friends forever... Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty bedspread.... I think I spy some purple. 💜 Glad you're getting settled in and unpacked...and you're back to blogging, too. I'm sure you're so excited about retirement. I know I love it! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOld friends are the BEST friends! Funny-sad, the things I used to take for granted.
ReplyDeleteI, too, really like your quilt bedspread. It just seems so 'homey' and welcoming. Personally, I'd opt for the fern green; that hue appeals to my mind's 'comfort' place.
Your new spread is very pretty! I think dark blue would go great with it.
ReplyDeleteFun with friends is the best!
Smiles...I just love this post, Terri...thank you...loveeeeeeeeeeeee the bedspread.
ReplyDeleteIt's all looking good Terri.
