Monday's Weekend Recap....

We actually moved from the sofa a few times over the weekend, so it was a little better than last weekend when we barely moved at all!  LOL

Friday I left work a little early to go to the medical clinic for my annual flu shot.  Piece of cake. I've gotten a flu shot every year since forever and am happy to have avoided the nasty bug.  I usually catch a cold, but I've not had the flu, so I'm a believer.

Joe took me out for Thai food Friday evening. We really, really like the new restaurant, Thai Oishi. The food is so fresh and the veggies are crispy stir fried.  So unlike our local Chinese restaurant where the food is just mushy. Delicious!

Saturday morning we actually got out of the house and went to the downtown Farmer's Market.  They take the month of August off, so it was good to get back down there and see that it has grown by another block!!  It's great that Lakeland supports it.  The city closes the streets and the people come.  We went for tomatoes and ended up with lettuce, peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes.

We also stumbled upon a woman giving chair massages.  $10.00 for 10 minutes.  It just so happens that I have had knots in my shoulders for a few weeks so I hopped on her chair after handing her a $10.00 bill.  Joe was able to sit under her tent, out of the sun, and wait for me.  She was AMAZING! Oh my gosh, did that 10 minutes feel good.  Bridgette and her husband are new to Lakeland but she has her license and is working at one of the day spas in town too.  I will visit her again.  (No picture of Bridgette.)

We also did something we've been doing now and then...drove around looking at 55+ communities to see if any of them feel good to us.  One that was looking really good on the real estate sites was a bust.  We are quickly narrowing it down to just one or two but don't want to make any moves just yet.  When the time is right, we will know.

Saturday night I used some of the fresh veggies and made us a big salad with boiled eggs and chicken on top for our dinner.  It was so good.

Sunday we did sleep late.  BLTs for "brunch" hit the spot.  I got the laundry started and we watched Sunday Morning (taped from earlier).  Joe put his football Red Zone on for awhile, then we started watching "Luther" on Netflix. It's a British detective show that we watched ages ago, but are enjoying it again.  We finished the bacon and salad for our dinner so that was easy for me.

Our little gray cat, Lilly, spent a good bit of time on the cat tree.  She watched us watching TV.

Tonight we need to do some shopping at Publix.  Joe has two doctor appointments, one this morning and one this afternoon. Just regular appointments for check-ups.  The Eagles are on Monday night football, so you know what we'll be doing tonight.

Not very exciting, but it was enjoyable.  We're healthy, we're happy, we have food to eat and clothes to wear and we thank God daily for our blessings.

Thanks for your visit!!  Peace & hugs.

  3. Chair massages are wonderful aren't they? A chair massage encouraged me to see a masseuse on a regular basis. It is good for you....I tell myself that to justify my spending that money!! Sounds like a lovely weekend. Off to the beach with my book!

  4. Laid back weekends are the best. I've watched "Luther" but had to take a break. It's pretty intense. I was on the edge of my seat too much. LOL I enjoy the Farmers' Market downtown Charleston too. So much to look at- fresh veggies, fresh bread, coffees, artists, etc. A fun day for sure. :)

  5. I always have that inner struggle with the flu shot every year. I'm not sure I'm a big believer in it. But I know every one's BODIES are different.
I'm jealous - I love those mini massage booths - 10 minutes had to feel WONDERFUL!!!

  7. Thai food...that sounds good!

The flu shot, not good. :-(

Glad you do not usually catch it!

  8. I've never had the flu shot and haven't had a flu bug since 1974. Everybody I know that gets one gets the flu, so, no thanks. Glad you have no adverse effects.
We eat at Nakorn Thai Cuisine in Brunswick frequently. It's kinda a hole-in-the-wall but it's consistently very good.
And I agree with the final statement, all our blessings flow from Him by His grace. Amen! ~:)

    1. Our son & daughter-in-law have taken us to Basil in Brunswick a couple of times. It is really good. I'll have to ask them if they have tried your favorite.

  9. Your new restaurant sounds good. I love veggies tender/crisp, not mushy, so I'm with you on that! We do have so many blessings, don't we. Besides that oral surgeon appt, I now have a doctor's appt tomorrow because I rammed that toe again - really hard. I'm sure he will want to examine my head before he examines anything else! I'm so disgusted with myself (as I lie here with an ice pack on my foot). I'm glad to hear that the flu shot has worked for you. I'm scared of it because of adverse reactions people I know have had to it. We'll see how it goes this year. I like the cat tree. Our Tuppence sure enjoys the screen porch. I think she will miss it during the winter. I guess I'll have to think of something fun for her. It sure won't involve going outdoors, at least not until we can teach her to shovel show. So glad the massage was a good experience for you. Nice to find someone that you will be able to go to regularly. Hope you and Joe have a good evening. xo

  10. Thai food is my favorite. There's a new Thai restaurant opening here and I'm looking forward to it. I'm making a big salad with chicken on top tonite, and that's a favorite around here. I add chopped egg, avocado, black olives and then the normal salad veggies-yum! Good luck with the home hunt! I had the flu one year, and every year since have had a shot. Haven't done it yet, but will soon. I usually get mine in early October. Have a great week!

  11. You are so right to thank God for the simple things of life because without them, life would not be simple!!! Enjoyed your post.

We, too, have been looking at +55 places but thus far have opted to stay where we are (in a regular, all-ages neighborhood).

  12. Simple pleasures are the BEST!

Best of luck to Bridgette as she builds her clientele! 10 minutes, 10 dollars? That's an enterprising young lady! (I'd give $20 for a FOOT rub right about now. lol.)

  13. Well that sounds like a great weekend. Busy but at a leisurely pace. It must be exciting looking out for places to retire too. Have a good week :)

  14. Oh, I love cats and Lilly is so cute. We thought about one of the retirement communities but we found a small home in the north GA mountains recently that was just right for us. We've been here about 2 months. I pray that you and Joe will find the perfect home.
