Saturday:9...I Dream of Jeannie....

Thanks to Samantha for today's Saturday:9!!  Join in the fun HERE.  You can link up or not, but it's a fun meme!

I Dream of Jeannie

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

I Dream of Jeannie Theme (1965)

... Because Harriet requested it. If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here

1) Jeannie was memorably discovered on the beach in an ornate bottle. Have you ever brought a souvenir home from the beach? (It doesn't have to be a genie. A shell or a stone will do.)  Usually a sunburn, but I always find a shell or two to keep.

2) Major Anthony Nelson, the man who released Jeannie from her bottle, was an astronaut. When you were a kid, did you dream of being an astronaut when you grew up?  No. Never considered it.

3) Upon discovering Jeannie, Major Nelson's first wish was that she could speak/understand English so they could communicate. If you found a genie, what would your first wish be?  Of course I should say something grand like "world peace" but a nice bit of cash in a retirement savings account would really, really be nice.

4) Major Nelson's best friend was fellow astronaut Major Healey. Where did you meet your best friend?  I met Joe in a bar.  Seriously, I did.

5) This theme song was written by Hugo Montenegro, who is better known for the music he wrote for a pair of Clint Eastwood movies (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars). Do you have a favorite Clint Eastwood movie?  I don't care for most of his earlier movies but we loved Gran Torino, and Million Dollar Baby was also good.

6) The last episode of the series was titled, "My Master, The Chili King." What ingredients make up your favorite chili recipe?  Just the usual...hamburger, red kidney beans, onion, chili powder and tomato sauce/juice.  Sometimes I add some pasta to it.

7) Jeannie was played by Barbara Eden, who was born in Tuscon, Arizona. Summer in Tuscon can get very hot, with the mercury often reaching 100º. What's your favorite season?  Spring, I think.

8) Anthony Nelson was played by Larry Hagman, who went on to play the villainous JR on the popular Dallas. Can you think of anything else Dallas is known for?  Dallas is home to SMU (Southern Methodist University) where our grandson goes to school, and also the George W. Bush Presidential Library is there.  Pony up!!

9) In the autumn of 1965, just weeks after I Dream of Jeannie premiered, St. Louis' famous Gateway Arch was completed. An estimated 4 million tourists visit the Arch every year. Do you have any summer vacation plans?  Folly Beach this month; St. Pete Beach next month.  We do live in Florida.  :)

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Saturday, y'all!  Thanks for stopping by.  Peace & hugs.

  6. I agree with Arlene ... won't you share the back story?
When I lived in West Texas, Dallas was appointment television. So glad I've (almost) broken my fascination with the 'boob tube'!

  8. So nice that you have the beach to enjoy. We are close to the Gulf but inland a ways. We live very close to Sylvan Bay. The water right now is so dirty, a brown yukky color. It's caused by all the flood waters that are flowing into the bay right now. It's fresh water which is lighter that salt water, therefore all that muddy water sits on top....it will take it a while to clear up. We still go to the park eventho the water looks so bad, we still like to go down to the boat ramp and watch the boaters come and go.

  9. A souvenir from the beach - always sea shells. I tend to wear myself out from bending over so many times to pick them up. I live about a thousand miles from an ocean beach, so sea shells hold a fascination for me.

As for Dallas, yes, we watched it and were continually frustrated with J.R.

You brought back a lot of memories with this meme!
