Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 266
The Hodgepodge is back and here are this week's questions!!
1. Tell us about a time you found yourself 'in the middle of nowhere'. Was this deliberate? I don't remember ever being in the middle of nowhere. That's kind of sad, actually. Might be fun to find myself in the middle of nowhere....
2. What's something you're 'in the middle of' today or this week? Smack dab in the middle of our trip to Ohio!
3. At what age do you think 'middle age' begins? What does it mean to be 'middle aged'? Now that I am well past the point I used to think of as middle aged, I'm thinking mid-60s are the new middle ages!! :)
4. Ravioli, stuffed peppers, samosas, deviled eggs, steamed dumplings, pierogis, or a jelly donut...your favorite food (from this list!) with something yummy in the middle. Your favorite not on the list? Since I've never had a samosa, I can't speak to that one, but I could easily lump all the other things mentioned as my very favorite food with something in the middle...then there is stuffed shells not on the list!
5. Albert Einstein is quoted as saying ''In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.'Would you agree? Have you found this to be true in your own life? Feel free to elaborate. I would have to agree. I'm sure there are difficulties that don't offer opportunity, but a positive person is always going to look for an opportunity when challenged. That has been true in my life on quite a few occasions. I've been through divorce; loss of loved ones; cancer; etc. I think I've managed things okay.
6. What's a song you remember loving from your middle school years? Do you love it still? Middle school years would find me listening to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. He played his trumpet so well and made it look effortless. I wanted to play mine just like he played his! I still enjoy listening to his music.
7. May 18th is National Visit Your Relatives Day. Will you celebrate? Which relative would you visit if time, distance, and expense were not considered. We are on our way to visit relatives as you read this post, actually, so we will be celebrating for several days! Most of my relatives are within a two-day drive or less, so getting there is not a problem. Now if expense was not an issue, we would be going to Italy to visit Joe's cousin again....in a heartbeat!
8. Insert your own random thought here. I promised my brother, when we were having one of the last conversations we had, that I would "be there" for the big things in his kids' lives. He died after a long battle with cancer when Sara was 15 and Mike was 10. Sara, who is now 26, is getting married on Sunday. Randy would be so proud of her and he would love her intended, Matt. I know I will cry when she walks down the aisle without her dad. I'm prepared.
Thanks for visiting today! I apologize ahead for missing some blogs while I'm gone. I'll do my best to catch up when I can. Please keep us on your prayer list for safe travels. Peace & hugs.
I enjoyed your answers....have a safe and happy trip. SMILES
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip. I'm so glad you can be there for your niece's wedding, and especially since your brother cannot. You are a wonderful aunt!
ReplyDeleteI like your statement, " a positive person is always going to look for an opportunity when challenged." Good advice.
For some reason i cannot really think of a song from Middle School and that is bugging me. Maybe Build Me Up Buttercup...which is totally random but I loved it!!
ReplyDeleteYour promise to your brother makes me tear up ... all good, that is. I'm sure Randy will be smiling down on you all this Sunday!
ReplyDeleteOh Terri, I love your promise to your brother. I would want to do the very same for mine. So sweet. Have a wonderful time and take plenty of tissues. I suspect you will need them for tears of bittersweet joy. I remember Herb Alpert.
ReplyDeleteAlways so much fun reading these. Stuff me some shells and call me happy!!
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, Congrats to your niece, Sara, and may God richly bless her and the groom in their lives together. Yesterday was my great niece's 13th birthday. I know that you have prayed many prayers for her through the months. She is doing very well and I want to thank you for your kindness. God bless.
ReplyDeleteLet's push that middle age up to 71. lol
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you will be there for your niece's wedding on Sunday. Yes, I'm sure the tears will flow.
ReplyDeleteOh Terri, what a comfort it must have been to your brother, that he could leave this world knowing that you would be there for his kids. That is wonderful. How could there possibly be a dry eye at that wedding. But have a safe and wonderful time. And I do hope you can get back to Italy some time to see Joe's cousin. Wouldn't that be great. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit behind reading posts this week.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great time!
