Weekend Wrap-up on Monday....
I wasn't totally lazy over the weekend. We had our neighbors, Bob & Ginny, over for dinner on Saturday night. I got up Saturday morning and started the "gravy" (spaghetti sauce) in the crock pot, then baked a cake. While the cake was in the oven, I made Italian meatballs and some braciole, which is rolled up beef with cheese and garlic. This photo is not of mine, but it is what they look like:
I made chocolate buttercream frosting for the yellow cake, cut up a salad and made up a cheese and meat plate with crackers for something to munch on while the linguini cooked.
We had a nice time catching up with them and news of their family. They have a granddaughter, who is in the Navy, getting married in December. They are excited about the wedding and are helping her get ready for it. It's hard for her to make plans when she is out on the ocean, on duty.
Sunday was, of course, laundry day. I did some bookkeeping and we had a visit from Helen and Cheryl, who popped in to just say hello. Joe and I spent a good part of the day watching Acorn TV, Season 9 of Murdock Mysteries.
My grandma is still in the nursing home, but she is doing so much better. The reports I am getting are that she is eating well, and is taking part in some of the activities. Uncle Jim posted this photo on Facebook yesterday:
She looks good, I think! We will see her in person in a few weeks!
This is a busy week at work, leading up to our annual art festival,
Mayfaire by-the-Lake. Joey and Darlene will be arriving on Friday
evening. I won't get to spend much time with them, since I'll be
at the Museum all day, both days, but we can spend some time
Saturday night.
Joe and I have our 31st anniversary coming up next week, on the 11th.
Hard to believe it's been a year already, since our trip to New Orleans
to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Good golly, the time does fly by!
Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs.
