Weekend Recap on Monday....

Our weekend has been so busy that I completely forgot about doing Sunday Stealing.  Here is my recap:

Friday was my first day back at work after being off three days with Joe and his procedures in the hospital.  I already blogged about that time.  Friday we had a luncheon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our "techie guy" and friend, GM.  There were 24 people there and a few testimonials from previous employees who worked with him.  It was very nice and I think we all had a good time.

Saturday, we headed for the Tampa airport to pick up our son, Jeff and his girlfriend, Kali.  This was our first time meeting Kali.  We like her very much!!  Her parents are Jamaican though her dad was in the Air Force and they have lived all over the world. She is a graphic designer and loves art. She and I have a lot in common and enjoyed the discoveries.

Joey and Darlene arrived a couple of hours after we got home from Tampa with the grand-pups, Brooke and Zoe.  They also brought along Brooke's new Mercedes-Benz car (remote control!!). She loves riding in it, but Zoe is terrified. So funny!

I made baked ziti and meatballs and sausage with peppers and onions, plus a nice tossed salad for dinner.  We had (store bought) apple pie, ice cream and/or cracker candy for dessert.  I always cook for an army, so there was plenty left to warm up for dinner last night.

Yesterday morning, we got up and were all going over to St. Pete Beach and to Jackie's on Corey for her scrumptious Sunday Brunch.  Joey and Darlene were having allergy troubles and opted out, so it was just four of us heading out at 9:30.  Jeff requested that we go so Kali could experience the restaurant.  We arrived just after 11:00 a.m.  Such a great buffet with bottomless Mimosas.  I was driving and don't care for champagne anyway, so it was coffee and water for me.

After brunch and a walk through the Farmers' Market that also occurs there on Sundays, we stopped at a beach access so Kali could put her toes in the Gulf of Mexico before we headed back to Lakeland.  It was a beautiful day, though the Gulf water is only 73 degrees...too cold for me!!

Jeff and Kali left before dinner (in Joe's car) to take Kali to her parents' house (about an hour away) and so Jeff could meet them. He will be back later today and we will have him for the rest of the week.  Kali flies home from her parents' house on Wednesday.  Joey and Darlene will leave this morning around 9:00 a.m.

Joey and Dar and the "girls" chilled out with us watching some TV before heading to bed (early!). That fencing behind the sofa is a little pen for the pups, to keep them from escaping to the cat food in the laundry room - or out the door to the pool. They can be quite sneaky!!

So that was our weekend. Back to work for me this week, but I did take Thursday and Friday off to spend with Jeff. Hoping we can find something fun to do before he has to leave on Saturday.

Joe, by the way, is feeling great! Praise God and thanks for all the prayers!  Karen and Lee made it home okay in their new RV.  Cindee came through her brain surgery (8 1/2 hours!) and Melanie got to go home, but is facing radiation and chemo.  Your prayers do count, so please keep these folks on your prayer lists for healing and strength. You are awesome prayer partners!  Thank you!

I promise to catch up on the blogs I have missed, reading some, commenting on some. I'll get there! I've missed hearing your news!  Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs!!

  3. I apologize that I haven't been to visit for a few days. It's been busy here. I went back and caught up with you, this morning. First of all, I'm glad Joe is doing better, and I'm so sorry he's had to go through these ordeals.
I know, from Ed's experience, what you mean about the groin area! It seems to take forever to heal, too.
I'm glad y'all had family come and spend time with you. That makes everything better :) Enjoy your week.

  9. Look at all those smiles! Loved the mini Mercedes!

Of course, I had to Google Jackie's on Corey. Looks amazing! ... but a far cry from my old SPB favorite, the Hurricane.
