Not knowing what else to call today's post, I just used "missive". One of the posts I read yesterday made reference to a challenge to go without social media, cell phones, computers, iPads, etc., for two days each week. Since my work keeps me pretty well tied to a computer, going for two days without using a computer is not possible (unless you count Saturday and Sunday). Now that doesn't mean I couldn't stay away from social media (but why would I want to?!).
Anyway, those thoughts led me to think about the callus I have on my hand from using the computer as much as I do. My skin gets callused easily. My foot doctor told me that calluses are usually a genetic thing and asked about my parents. Yes, my mom had bad callouses and so do my siblings. Our skin just doesn't shed like it should - so the doctor told me. Hope this isn't TMI. Friction causes the skin to form a callus to protect it from injury.
My left hand resting on the wrist pad that I use at my computer.
There is the callus on the heel of my hand from resting it on the wrist pad.
I used to have a callus on my finger from holding a pencil/pen. It is gone and I have this instead.
I use lotion. I use a sandstone. I think the only thing that will make it go away is when I........
RETIRE!! (Did you see that coming?)
Thanks (always) for your visit!! Peace & hugs.

Wow, you do use it a lot to get a callous. I get them on my feet especially in the summer which I contribute to wearing sandals/flip flops. I know how hard it was for me, so I can't imagine it for you staying away from social media. RETIRE - what is the meaning of that word again??
ReplyDeleteWow...Terri--I have never seen it like that. I get callouses on my feet...especially in the summer.
ReplyDeleteRetire? What is that? (grinning) Have a beautiful day, friend.
Retirement is awesome!!! And, yes, I think that's exactly the prescription to get rid of the callouses!!! LOL Hope you have a great Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWow that is a big callous. I get them on my feet.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Oh the things we fair skinned people have to put up with!! I feel your pain!! I have to work on oiling up all the time.
ReplyDeleteWoW, that's something! RETIRE! Great work for working people! The day I walked out of the bank I could have done cartwheels all the way to the car!! I was soooooo happy!
ReplyDeleteoops..I meant to say 'great word' lol
ReplyDeleteSomeone told me today to use coconut oil for things like that. I did not realize it was because our skin doesn't shed. Interesting. I have one on the ball of my foot - - the leg with the knee that gives me problems with swelling. Oh well - - the things that happen as we continue to live. Praise God!
ReplyDeleteAmen! I'll take a callus over lots of things that could be worse.
DeleteI sympathize. That is a very serious callous. I have a callous on my finger and from resting my hand on the mouse wrist pad. I feel very thankful I never had carpal tunnel after using a keyboard for about 50 years now. I will be happy for you when you retire, but I bet you will still have your wrist on that pad as you blog more. 😊
ReplyDeleteI have a laptop at home, so it isn't an issue there!
Deletepraying for that callus to go away.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a callus! I never heard of it being genetic, but it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteRETIREMENT! :)
Roll on retirement
ReplyDeleteRegarding staying away from social media for a couple of days, like you, I find that to be very hard. Some of us just need that connection to "community" and social media does it very well for me. Like everything else, we need to observe appropriate boundaries, and that's good. Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteWorking Hands lotion works really well. It might help.
ReplyDeleteAs for staying away from social media - I think I need to participate in that soon!
