A beautiful Saturday:9....

You're Beautiful

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: You're Beautiful (2005)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The first line is of this song is, "My life is brilliant." Using one word, describe your life.  Blessed.

2)  This is about a chance encounter between strangers in a crowd, specifically the subway. What "crowded place" were you most recently in?   If you can consider I-4 a "place" we were just there yesterday, stuck in traffic.

3) Near the very end of this song, James Blunt sings, "It's time to face the truth." Do you believe you face things head on? Or do you tend to deny or put off the unpleasant? I believe I usually face things head on.

4) James Blunt went to an all-boys school. Some educators recommend single-sex classrooms because they maintain girls just naturally approach subjects like math and science differently than boys do. Do you agree?  I'm not an educator so I'm not qualified to answer this question, but I don't think I agree. Competition is good.

5) Blunt put his father in charge of his finances. Income taxes are top of mind for many of us this time of year. Do you do your own taxes?  Joe does them, but I did mine when I was single. Or do you go to an accountant or tax preparation service?  Joe is a CPA (grinning).

6)  In 2005, the year this song was a hit, the sitcom How I Met Your Mother was also popular.  Do you know how your parents met?  Yes, I do. My uncle introduced them.

7) 2005 is also the year Tom Cruise famously jumped on a sofa. Do you remember where he did this?  Yes, I saw him on Oprah when he did that. Ridiculous. I lost any respect for him, and don't care for Oprah any more.

8) 2005 was also the year YouTube really took off. What's the last video you watched?  I watched a video made by our daughter-in-law about the red car and puppy Brooke.

9) Random question ... Which of these high profile jobs would you enjoy more: head of General Motors, CEO of Apple or president of the New York Yankees?   None of the above, please. I'm ready to retire. I don't want any responsibility like that, period.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Taking Jeff to the airport today. So sorry to see him go. We've had such a good time.

Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs.

  2. It's always sad to say good-bye, especially when it was such a great visit. I like all your answers. One word just isn't enough to describe my life, but I met the truth head on with it. You are smart. No. More. Responsibilities such as those! Have a great weekend.
(I'm with you on the matter of Tom Cruise and Oprah!)

    1. Arlene, Joe is indeed a CPA. He says he is "semi-retired" now, though he still does around 30 tax returns. He has a few clients who won't let him quit. It's a good thing.

  9. They say there are a few different ways people learn. Some learn best by seeing, some by doing, that sort of thing. Probably true of kids too. I wonder how that breaks down between boys and girls? I feel like I know more women who like to read and write, but more men who are interested in science and math. However, neither is exclusive.

I thought the Tom moment on the couch was kinda funny, a little uncomfortable, but it was not such a bad thing. I mean, it was a tv show where you are supposed to do something interesting. Can't just sit there. Seemd to surprise Oprah, though!
