Weekend Recap on Monday....
It has been a good, but busy weekend for us. Joe has been having ups and downs with how he feels. Saturday was a down day, but Sunday was better.
Friday night, we took Sheila out to dinner after she showed us her new house. She hasn't moved in yet, but is staying with her son and his family while his construction team works on the new house. They are removing popcorn ceilings, pulled out all the carpet to get ready for a floating wood floor. The outside deck needs some work and all the walls will be painted. Her furniture is all in storage, but she is hoping to be moved in in a couple of weeks. It is a very cute house and is right on the banks of a small lake. Beautiful views! She is trying to talk us into moving in next door. Tempting!
Saturday, Joe and I took a car load of stuff to Regenerations, our church's thrift store. We wanted to get breakfast out, but it was too late for breakfast so we went home and I cooked breakfast for us, for lunch. This is our Vinny, being silly while I was putting my make-up on Saturday morning.
We watched the Villanova/Oklahoma basketball game and were thrilled with the outcome!! Hoping Villanova will win tonight, but North Carolina will be hard to beat. Fingers crossed!
The laundry got done, we did grocery shopping, I made up the guest room for our company arriving this afternoon, and I made a cake to share with them. I LOVE my cake stand and cover. It keeps things so fresh. I use it for cookies and muffins too. That heavy lid also keeps the cats out!! LOL
I heard from Melanie/Lanie yesterday. She is having more surgery today, so please keep her on your prayer lists!! Thanks for prayers for Joe, too. Our friends who are arriving today have been on your prayer lists and your prayers do work. Karen is my dear friend who was battling esophageal cancer a few months ago. Your prayers have been powerful and appreciated!!
Wishing you a good week!! Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs.

prayers for Joe, and Melanie continue.
ReplyDeleteMmmm your cake looks yummy. Vinny is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteWe have a trunkload waiting to take to Thrift Store today.
Have a great day!
Was disappointed our SU Orangemen lost to NC. Funny thing is, our hometown is Syracuse, NY, yet we live in NC. It was a toss up on who to route for. Cake looks yummy! Enjoy your Monday.
ReplyDeleteWe were hoping Syracuse would win (because Villanova could probably beat them tonight!). It's going to be a tough game.
DeleteYou did a beautiful job on the cake. I have a glass cake chest very similar to yours. A house right on the lake sounds wonderful, but I will remain content with a view from our house. Praying for your Joe and Melanie and Karen and asking you to pray for my DH who is having ultrasound and sonograms tomorrow too.
ReplyDeleteCount on my prayers!
DeleteYour cake plate cover looks just like mine. I'm like you, I use it for a variety of things, even pies! Hope you have a great visit with your friends, and enjoy a piece of that cake for me!
ReplyDeleteI love a good cake plate with topper.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the game tonight -it'll be a good one.
I hope she enjoys her new house. It sounds like a great location. Let us know when you've bought the house next door. :-) Vinny is SO cute and know how to find the comfortable spots. LOL
ReplyDeleteThey are really cute little houses. Two bedrooms, two full baths, cute kitchen...tons of storage and big closets. We will be downsizing when I retire. Wish we could afford to move into that little community. She found a good one.
DeleteI am impressed with your cake decorations on the edges! Most people don't pipe but just spread the frosting. It looks like a delicious chocolate icing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend. Are you seriously moving? Wouldn't that be nice to live beside your friend? Love your summery, beachy new background. HOPE you've had a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks amazing, Terri!
ReplyDeleteThat expression on Vinny's face makes me suppose he's thinking, 'Turn on the faucet and DIE!'
I was just at Arlene's place and saw you won her giveaway! Hooray! Glad you've had a good time with your friend. Continued prayers for Joe.
