The Fool On The Hill Saturday:9...

Samantha is our hostess for the Saturday:9!!  Join the fun HERE and link up with all the other Saturday:9ers!  Thanks Sam!

Fool on the Hill

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Fool on the Hill (1967)
Unfamiliar with today's song? We can't help you. The YouTube copyright police have removed the Beatles' version.

1)
Friday was April Fool's Day. Did you pull any pranks? Nope. Did anyone put anything over on you? Nope. I try not to pull pranks and then usually no one pulls them on me! :)

2) The practice of playing tricks on one another on April 1 dates back at least to the 14th century and Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales includes a mention of it. Geoffrey Chaucer has been called England's greatest poet. Quote a bit of poetry for us. (It doesn't have to be English, or great.)

3)
Beatle Paul is a huge Elvis fan and is happy to own the bass that was played on Elvis' 1954 recording of "That's All Right, Mama." Tell us about one of your prized possessions.  My mom's cedar chest. It was her high school graduation gift from her parents in 1948. It sits at the end of our bed and is full of my t-shirts, bathing suits, and various other things that can be folded away. It needs a good refinishing and someday will go to a niece, but not for awhile yet.

4) In contrast to his easygoing persona, Sir Paul has been described by former band mate Ringo Starr as strong willed and "determined to get his own way." Do you consider yourself strong willed and determined?  I CAN be strong willed and determined, but have softened a bit, I think.  Joe may tell a different story.  Or are you more easy going?  I believe I am more easy going the older I get.

5) The Beatles once bought a Greek island, planning to live and record there, but sold it after a few months because it started to seem like a bad, expensive idea. Tell us about a purchase that gave you buyer's remorse.  Looking at the huge pile of clothing I just purged from my overflow closet, and knowing at least three things have never been worn... I should have tried them on before bringing them home!  I hate shopping and hate trying on clothing at the store, but make myself do it now.

6) Legend has it that the Beatles officially broke up in Disney World. John Lennon was staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort when he received and signed the court papers that dissolved the group. Have you ever conducted business while on vacation?  As a matter of fact, yes.  We were on vacation when we decided to move to Florida and we put a contract on the house we are now living in.  Joe laughingly tells people it was the most expensive vacation we ever took!

7) George Harrison loved puttering around in the garden and dedicated his autobiography to "gardeners everywhere." Do you have a green thumb? Not even pastel green.  I don't like gardening and kill more than I keep alive when it comes to plants.

8) Ringo regrets not having saved more Beatles memorabilia, which he realizes now would be worth a fortune. Are you a pack rat?  Not a pack rat...maybe a pack mouse.  I'm not as bad as my mom was!!  I'm not as bad as our son, Joe!!  But I do tend to overcrowd shelves and closets.

9)
Random question: Which do you prefer, Girl Scout cookies or Boy Scout popcorn? I've never heard of Boy Scout popcorn but will still say I prefer the Girl Scout Thin Mints.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend.

I appreciate your visit today!! Thanks for coming by.  Peace & hugs to you!

  3. The Beatles - My all time favorite band. I grew up listening to their music, had many, many of their ALBUMS, yes ALBUMS, remember those. I know this song very well - Fool on the Hill. I can relate to your #7 - I own plants for about a week then it is downhill from there. Enjoy your weekend Terri!

  5. Love the Friendship poem! I remember a time when we were on a road trip, we were passing through a very small town, only one caution light, now that's small. Was hard for me to believe there was a car dealership there, I guess the farmers/ranchers kept them in business. Anyway, Mr D pulled in because he saw a truck he liked. He bought that truck, took about 2 hours to get everything done and then off we went, down the road in our new pickup truck! Enjoyed your answers, have a great weekend.
