Slinkying into Spring Hodgepodge!

Thank you Joyce, From This Side of the Pond, for another great Hodgepodge.  Give her a visit and join in, if you haven't already done so!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 212

Here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Come back tomorrow and share answers with the universe. Our corner of it, anyway...see you there!

1. What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word 'spring'? Which phrase best describes the season of spring where you live right now (today)-sprung! almost there, or still waiting?

Well, I live in Florida, and we really just have two seasons....spring and summer.  I believe our 'winter/spring' is over and we are well on our way to summer temps.  Flowers are blooming, the pollen is falling, the strawberries are ripe and our AC has been turned back on.  Strawberries are what I think of when I hear SPRING down here.  They are ready by mid-February.

2. Bed, couch, stapler, garage door, computer mouse, recliner, flashlight, door knob...which household item containing springs most needs replacing in your home? Speaking of springs...did you ever own a Slinky?

Yes, I did own a Slinky.  Weren't they fun!!?  None of those items needs replacing in our home at this time.  I guess we are lucky!!

3. March is Women's History Month. Share a favorite quote by a woman.

"We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty." Mother Teresa

4. What's a question that looms large in your mind right now?

I wonder every day if the new injections that I will be getting in my knees, will work for me so I can enjoy our trip to New Orleans in May.  I also wonder about my brother-in-law every day, praying that he will continue to recover and can enjoy life again, with my sister.  Praying every day about that!

5. Are you a sugar freak? By that I mean how much do you love sugar? With all the bad press sugar gets these days, have you made any efforts to reduce the amount of sugar you consume?

I am not a sugar freak.  Candy and desserts (with a few exceptions) don't really tempt me.  We use stevia, Splenda, Agave, and honey to sweeten things at home.  I LOVE custards, though, and will enjoy a custard pie, creme brulee, or flan as often as I can.  Now, talk pasta (carbs) and it's a different story. Oh my.

6. Would you rather have less work to do or more work you enjoy doing?

Cruising toward retirement, I'm going with less work, period.  I've enjoyed my "career" and wouldn't change much, but I'm ready to sleep in (beyond 5:00 a.m.) and not have to show up somewhere unless I want to!

7. Ever been to Texas? Of the top ten Texas tourist attractions which would you most like to see-The Alamo, The San Antonio River Walk, The State Capital, Dallas World Aquarium, Padre Island National Seashore, Houston Space Center, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Six Flags Fiesta Texas,  Moody Gardens, or Galveston Island?

You know, I've never been to Texas, and I've never had an urge to visit Texas.  Those places sound interesting, but there are places just as interesting much closer to home.  If I was traveling that kind of distance, I would rather see the Black Hills or the Rocky Mountains than any place in Texas.  So sorry to anyone who lives in Texas!!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Time is flying. Sometimes it seems to be going so fast that I can't keep up with it. Slow down, please!!

Thanks for visiting my Hodgepodge, and thanks to Joyce for entertaining us yet again!  Wishing you a good Wednesay!!  Peace & hugs.

  1. I agree about Texas.....although, Lee had a conference in San Antonio which I would have liked to have gone along to see the River Walk. Been though Texas on the way to Arizona many times, though :)

  2. Enjoyed the questions and your answers this morning. I love sugar, but it doesnt love me...it sticks to my thighs. I lived in Texas and have relations in Texas. It is just another state to me. I prefer other western states much more. Retirement is great, but I worked so long, that I still wake up the same time now, as I did back then! Happy Hump Day!

  3. The buds on my tree are getting bigger so Spring must be close.
    Slinkys were fun.
Texas isn't on my list of must see places either. I'm not sure why.
I have a sweet tooth. I love all of them.
    Have a great day!

  4. Yes, Florida has those strawberry festivals. My dad said he misses going to them. Our strawberries have been amazing this year! What a beautiful quote from Mother Teresa. I agree, time needs to slow down. It is always fast but this year seems to be extra quick!!!

  7. As a fellow Hodgepodge participant I visited your blog page. I've been to Texas and would prefer to visit other places before going back. I would love to visit all the National Parks in the U.S. someday with my beloved SWMBO, AKA my wife. Nice blog page!

  8. I pray that number 4 happens too, and that you can wave to me from Bourbon Street, which is one of the cameras on Earthcam. I'd like to visit Texas, but not when it's stifling hot. I suppose I could say the same about Florida. I'm going to try and enjoy our last few days of spring weather. Bet you're looking forward to Friday and the weekend.

  9. I sure hope your knees cooperate for your New Orleans trip!!!
As for sleeping late during retirement, Ed's been retired for almost 2 months, and he still gets up at the same time every single morning! Old habits die hard :)

  10. Now you've made me hungry for strawberry shortcake. I'm praying the injections in your knees are a success so you can enjoy your trip. Also praying your brother-in-law continues to improve.

  11. My mom always said that here in GA springtime is not a season - it is a blessing - and it is from all the beautiful and wonderful colors of flowers and trees!
    I had a slinky too.
