Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 211
Thanks to Joyce, at From This Side of the Pond, for another fun Hodgepodge!! Visit her HERE to link up and join in the fun!
1. 'In like a lion, out like a lamb'...does the first part of this saying describing March weather ring true where you live?
No. I live in central Florida. We are back to "normal" here, with temps in the 80s and some humidity. The pollen is beginning to cover everything in yellow/green and those little wormy things are falling from the live oak trees. Rarely do we have lion-like weather (thank goodness!).
2. March 4th is National Grammar Day. What common grammatical error bothers you the most?
Oh my! Their ain't room hear for me to answer you're question. There, their, they're. Your, you're. Those two drive me CRAZY.
3. William Arthur Ward says- 'The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.' Which one are you?
I am usually the realist, I think, though have exhibited traits from all three at one time or another.
4. What's something you need to 'march forth and conquer' this month?
To either hire a cleaning service for biweekly visits or figure out how to get some major cleaning done on our own. With Joe's health issues and my bad knees.....
5. An ongoing debate around here...do you dust first, then vacuum or vacuum first, then dust? Of the two routine household chores, which do you dislike the least? How's that for wording?

See #4 to understand I'm not doing much of that these days, but when I do, I dust first, then vacuum. Our vacuum has a good filter on it, and if I have to change the bag, I do it in the garage. I dislike dusting the most, just because I have so much stuff sitting on every surface. My bad.
6. According to thrilllist.com, the ten most photographed sites in the U.S.A. are- Cinderella's
Castle in Orlando, Southernmost House in Key West Florida, The Space
Needle in Seattle, The Site of the Boston Massacre in Boston, The
Bellagio Lake/fountains in Las Vegas, The Lincoln Memorial in Washington
DC, Coit Tower in San Fransisco, The Art Institute of Chicago, Niagara
Falls, and snagging the number one spot-The Guggenheim Museum in New
York City.
How many on this list have you photographed? Which on the list would you most like to visit and photograph?

I have photos of Cinderella's Castle in Orlando (lots of photos), the Southernmost House (and point) in Key West, Florida, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, and of Niagara Falls. I would most like to see The Guggenheim Museum in NYC.
7. Fifty years ago Monday (March 2, 1965) The Sound of Music premiered
at the Rivoli Theatre in NYC. Have you seen the film? Do you own a
copy? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love it (or not)? Ten=best
movie ever. If you're a fan, what's your favorite scene or song from the
movie?
The Sound of Music lands at around #8 for me. What is not to like about it, really? One of my favorite scenes is when they are dancing in the gazebo, singing "You Are Sixteen". We do own a copy of the movie, and I like all of the songs. The best overall part of the movie is when the Captain decides to love again. Of course, getting out of the country, ahead of the Nazi Germans is good, too.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
What a difference a day or two makes for my knees. Cortisone is a miracle drug, let me tell you. Of course, I always have a little reaction from it the first day or so. I broke out in a sweat a few hours after the shots. Didn't last long, but I recognize the reaction from getting so many. I also can't sleep the night of. Eyes wide open. Took some Benedryll which then makes me groggy in the morning. BUT, my knees feel great! If only it would last longer than 8-10 weeks.
Not so random thought #2... I heard from my sister last night, and we are thrilled that Bruce was accepted into the in-patient therapy program, right there at South Georgia Medical. It is anticipated that he MAY be able to be on his way home, for in-home therapy, within 2-3 weeks. This is amazing news. Please keep him in your prayers!

Thanks for peeking in today! I love your comments and appreciate your time! Peace & love!
Fabulous news about your brother-in-law! I'm glad your knees are giving you less trouble. I don't have a ton of knick knacks but I still don't love to dust : ) Come to the Guggenheim! I'll meet you there!
ReplyDeleteI hope your knee injections work. My hubby went through that for years with both his wrists (eventually had carpal tunnel surgery). A cleaning service sounds like an option you deserve!
ReplyDeleteGlad your knees are doing better!
ReplyDeleteI loved your answer to #2 :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad your knees are feeling better, even if only for a while :(
I'm also glad to hear the news about your brother-in-law :)
So many have answered the same for #2. Good point about the scene where they are fleeing from the Nazis, important part of the movie!
ReplyDeleteLove your answer for #2. I have a horrible time keeping up with housework yet I am not trusting of having some stranger in my home so I keep pushing forward but many things are neglected. I do have a self propelled vacuum which helps a lot! Yes I agree the cortisone is a miracle drug. Does wonders for my lungs when needed. That is wonderful news about Bruce!
ReplyDeleteTemps in the 80s sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteHope your knees feel better for a long time!
The news about Bruce keeps getting better. Thank goodness and prayers will continue. Our weather has had its ups and downs so far. Today the old north wind reminded us we're not out of the woods yet. Everyone knows how much I hate dusting, so I won't go there. I also hate seeing 'loose' used instead of 'lose'. I can understand students who confuse 'live' and 'leave' (today one told me 'eat' rhymes with 'it'), but for someone whose first language is English I don't understand the confusion. Oh, and 'who's' instead of 'whose', and I could continue.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have so much trouble with your knees. I'm interested in how that all started actually. I'm glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI will talk about the weather - the winter here in GA can get cold and even snowy once in awhile - but it is usually sunny - this winter has been dreary. So I am ready for spring to march on in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood news on the knees and Bruce! I always vacuum, then dust. I guess that's what my mom did, so I do too.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about your brother-in-law and your knees. I vote for the cleaning service. You work all the time and, with those knees bothering you, you could use a break.
ReplyDeleteLove your answer to the grammar question.
WONDERFUL news about your knees and also about your brother-in-law!! Thank you, Lord!
