Fragments on Friday....

I just finished a really good book.  It is not one that I would usually pick up, but the story line was intriguing for some reason.  I really didn't want it to end.  If you want an uplifting, different kind of story, check out  Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, by Cheryl Strayed.  It is being made into a movie, so I look forward to that!  Reese Witherspoon is going to play Cheryl.  It's a true story, by the way.

Friday has been a long time coming.  Some weeks just fly by.  Not this one.

Tomorrow, we have tickets for the Lake Morton Historical District Neighborhood Home Tour.  We try to go every year.  The Lake Morton Neighborhood is made up of 1920s craftsman style bungalows.  Many have been refurbished and renovated into real beauties.  I've been posting photos from the tour for the last few years.  Hoping my knees will behave and I'll make it through the 9-10 homes this year.

My sister, Patti, who is a school teacher in Ohio, near the West Virginia border, told me yesterday that they have had 15 snow days already this winter, with more snow this week.  I can only imagine how far into June they will have to go, to make up the days.  I think they sometimes do Saturday school, too, to make some of them up.  Tough on teachers AND on the kids.

I really don't have much more to write about for today's fragments  Thanks so much for reading this far, and for your comments, if you choose to leave one or two.  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I'll have to check into that book. I like non fiction. I would love to accompany you on that Craftsman bungalow homes tour. Hope your knees will be kind to you. Have a great weekend, Terri.

  2. I remember 'Wild' being nominated for an Oscar of some kind. I'll have to check the book out.
I'd love to go on a tour of some of the historical homes in Savannah, sometimes. Those old, stately homes intrigue me.
Enjoy your weekend! Hope your knees behave :)

  3. I bought the book when she was on Oprah but never got around to reading it. I loved the movie, Reese did a great job and was nominated this year for an Oscar for her role.

  6. Hope your knees permit tou to go on the tour. I remember having to go to school on Saturdays when I was in the second grade (going into the third grade) to make up missed days. Of course, then I was always looking forward to 1st May to take off my shoes.

  7. That house is beautiful. I hope you can do the tour this year. What a treat. I'd love to see them. I think they've gotten more snow in your sister's area than we've gotten. Our schools haven't reached their limit of snow days, I don't think. And that's unusual for here.
Thank you for another book review. I got the last book you talked about and it's on my Kindle waiting for me. I made note of this one and I'll be checking it out. Hope you have a good weekend.

  8. I love bungalows. I actually love a old home than a new one, have fun, praying your knees will hold up. I know the schools here will have to make up like 7-8 days, and we lost 1 day so far for college. Not sure how they make it up or if they will. Blessings
