Monday, Monday....

Mondays sure do roll around fast these days!  Where did the weekend go?

Do any of you have trouble sleeping on Sunday nights?  I have a feeling when I am finally able to retire, it will stop, but I find myself waking up every couple of hours.  I'm not worrying about anything, and work is going fine.  I'm not dreaming (that I remember).  It's just a thing I do on Sunday nights.  Then, I am never ready for the alarm to go off.  I think I am so tuned to doing this, that nothing will fix it except not having to go to work on Monday morning!

I finally spoke with my sister, Tammy, last night.  They have had non-stop visitors since Bruce got home.  She said he did great on Saturday!  When they left the hospital and got out of Valdosta and headed home, Bruce started saying things like....  "This is mine."  "I know this."  When they got home and she  parked in front of the house, she started crying and so did he.  He looked at the house and said "beautiful".  When they got inside, she pushed his wheelchair into each room, so he could see the house.  Then the kids and grandkids started to arrive.  Food was brought in.  She said by the time everyone left, they were both exhausted.  The home nurse came by yesterday, and they are getting the VA involved so his medications will be less expensive.  He is doing fine walking around the house with the walker.  There is still a long way to go, but PRAISE GOD for how far he has come in three months!

We have a sick cat.  Onyx, our 15-year old, has thyroid problems and is just skin over bones.  I noticed yesterday that his belly is tight and bulging.  He is still eating and purring and jumping around, but something isn't right.  I'll be calling our Vet this morning.

I didn't mention before that while my car was parked at the Leadership Forum, one of the students driving a golf cart shuttle from the parking lots, ran into my back bumper.  He left a note on my car with a phone number to call.  The crease he left is pretty bad and actually made a hole.  The school called me before I had a chance to call them.  It seems they had taken photos of the damage, including my license tag and they found me through my tag.  Very nice of them to go to that much trouble to find me and make it right.  So, I need to take my car to the dealer this week, to get an estimate for a new bumper.

I thank you for stopping by, and I wish you a good week ahead!  Peace & love!

  1. Terri, I have been retired since 2004, and still to this day, have trouble sleeping when I know tomorrow is Monday, or even when I know I have an early dr. appt. or something like that. It gets built in over the years I suppose. So thankful Bruce is home and being around his family, his belongings, will make a huge difference in his recovery. Ouch on the bumper, but there are still nice, honest people in the world.

  2. What a touching homecoming for Bruce and Tammy and all the family! I've always heard that cats are very good at hiding pain. Hope the vet can do something to help relieve his suffering. I sure was surprised to hear that both the person who damaged your car and his university are such responsible people. Oh, and I imagine a lot of people have problems sleeping on Sunday night. I know I do.

  3. What great news about Bruce's homecoming! I hope things continue to improve for him.
Ed used to have trouble sleeping on Sunday nights, before he retired. As for me, I have trouble sleeping all the time :( Either I can't fall asleep, or I'll sleep 4 or 5 hours, then wake up. It's exhausting!
I hope your kitty will be okay. Old age is hard on them, just like us.

  4. Hi There, Even in retirement, there are some nights (not specific ones) when I wake up off and on all night... No reason that I can find... But---overall, I sleep very good these days.

Great news about Bruce.. So glad he is home... Awesome news...

Hope you sweet kitty will be okay. My Snowball died when I was away at college. It was SO strange going home and finding no Snowball there.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. Oh Terri, my mind was just a racing last night, usually every Sunday night. Sad to say....just too much going on, I guess that's why.

Keeping Onyx in prayer. Keeping Bruce and Tammy in prayer. I sure like getting updates. Blessings

  6. I always have trouble sleeping on Sunday night too. I didn't know it was so common!
Sorry to hear about Onyx. It's so hard to see our pets sick and I'll be praying.
I loved reading about Bruce's homecoming.

  7. I love that story of Bruce's homecoming.

I don't really have trouble sleeping on Sunday nights, but I do definitely need to get a lot of prep work done on Sunday evenings and I make a long, detailed list before I hit the sack. I can't function without a list. Once I get things written down they tend to stop circling through my brain.
