Monday, it is.....

The weekends go so fast when we are with loved ones.  I could really, now, use one more day to catch my breath, but it is not to be.  Monday, it is....

We had such a nice time in Naples, with grandson Tristan, his mom (our daughter-in-love) and step dad.  It will probably be graduation weekend before we get to see them again, but we have that to look forward to.

Tristan and Kathy are going to Germany in a couple of weeks, for Tristan's graduation trip.  He has been learning to speak German for the last 3-4 years, with a private teacher, since the school he attends only teaches Spanish (which he also had a few years of).  He is excited to try out what he has learned, and to hopefully learn even more, being there.  His German teacher is from Germany and she says he does quite well.

We arrived Friday, early evening, and hosted a pizza dinner.  Cheese and veggie pizzas, since it was a meatless Friday for us.  Kathy also had a nice salad.  We talked and talked some more, before turning in.

Saturday brought the St. Patrick's Parade Day to downtown Naples!  We were fortunate that Kathy's office is right on the parade route, so we had a 3rd floor window perch, above the crazy crowd, but with a great vantage point for seeing the parade....

A local Irish bar was a big part of the parade!

Irish dancers.  They were really good!!

A woman was selling green "hats" with streamers, and Kathy
ran down to buy one for me.  I'll wear it at work tomorrow!!

This float honored the fire fighters who lost their lives in 9/11.

The Naples High School marching band.

When we got home from the parade, the mail had come and there were two college acceptances in the mail, for Tristan.  He has been accepted at three schools, so far, and these two offered him an $80,000 scholastic scholarship, and the other $65,000.  The one he really wants hasn't come through yet, so fingers are still crossed for that one.  He will most likely hear from a few more in April.

Saturday evening, Kathy and Jim had friends in town from New Jersey and they came to dinner with us.  Kathy cooked all afternoon, and dinner was delicious.  We had met their friends before, and enjoyed getting to know them even better. Nice people.  Kathy's dining room looked lovely.

Company left around 10:00, and we finished clean-up and went to bed!!  Up Sunday morning, and we started for Lakeland around 10:00 a.m.  We stopped for lunch before getting home, which was nice.  The house and cats were well cared for by our wonderful neighbors.  The laundry got done, and I went to bed early.  Kind of exhausted, actually.

Thanks for stopping in today!  Peace, love and wishing you a good week!!

  2. I'm glad you had a nice visit. Parade looks fun. I haven't been to a parade in many years. My son never liked loud noises and would never tolerate a parade. Now he is a drummer. LOL Have a great day!

  6. I'll bet you are exhausted after your weekend! Some of my students are hosting some German students starting tomorrow, and then they Will be visiting them in Germany sometime in April. Of course, here such things are easier to organize. Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. I imagine the Town Hall and some of the fountains will be lit up in green.
