Memory Monday....

Thanks to Retired Not Tired for starting this fun Meme, for Mondays!  Visit her HERE if you would like to join in!

Today's subject is "My Favorite Teacher".

I really can't name one favorite teacher.  My favorite elementary teacher was Mrs. Everhart, in second grade. I've mentioned her before, but really don't know anything about her, to write about.

In Junior High, my homeroom teacher was Mr. Murphy, who was our football coach.  He was lots of fun, and was a great coach, taking our little Millersport Laker football team to a 10-0 championship season (when I was a sophomore).

In high school, I liked most of my teachers.  I liked school, I got good grades, was not rebellious, and got along with most everyone.  I really don't have a "favorite" teacher from high school. There was really only one I didn't like.  I was on the yearbook staff, I spent one study hall a day as a library helper. I loved music and art classes. I tutored a couple of students in reading.  I had good teachers.  If I really had to name one, I would say it was our band director, Mr. Hoeltzel.

Not a very interesting or informative post, but that's really all I have on the subject.

I spoke with my sister, Tammy, yesterday morning.  She went home for the weekend, and got some sleep and things caught up, including a hair cut.  She is feeling so good about how well Bruce is doing!  His kids were in Tallahassee, with Bruce, while Tammy was home, and his son, David, told Tammy that they were outside, taking a walk around the hospital property, and were talking about the trees.  David and one of the grandkids mentioned the maple trees, and Bruce said "Mediterranean Olive".  As they got closer to the tree, David said it really was an olive tree!  Bruce was also acknowledging other people as they walked by...saying hello, how are you doing, and people would stop to talk.  He is making great progress.

Now they need to get him walking, and more intensive PT will come in the new facility.  They should find out this week if he will be accepted there.  The only downside is that Tammy can't stay in the room with him.  She said she will camp in the waiting room a night or two, and will just plan to spend more nights at home.  It's a 2-hour drive, so not too bad, if she breaks up the week with trips home.  I suggested even sleeping in her car, with the weather as nice as it is...not too cold and not too hot.  She said she has a blow-up mattress that might fit in the back of her car.  They can't afford for her to have an extended stay in a motel/hotel, so she will do what she has to do.

Your continued prayers for Bruce and for Tammy are appreciated!!  Thanks for stopping by!  Peace & blessings for a good week ahead!

  3. That is wonderful news about Bruce! What a tough time this has been for the family, but thank God for the answers to prayer - and for you letting us know how we can pray for them. I have started putting a prayer list on my phone, so that I don't forget to pray for people. It helps me a lot. I hope you have a wonderful day, Terri. Sounds like you were a busy girl in high school. :-)

    1. I also have a prayer list (in my DropBox) across all my electronic devices. It does help me remember prayer intentions.

  4. My favorite teacher was definitely Mrs. McChesney (my band director)... She was AWESOME....

Glad your BIL is doing better --but sorry that someone (a church or someone) can't help her pay for a motel nearby...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. Sounds like Bruce is doing well although I feel bad that your sister can't stay in the room with him at his new facility.

I think most of my teachers were good too, and I also had a high school teacher that I didn't like. The day of the final exam she went into hospital to have her baby, so we thought no exam. No such luck for us, of course!
