A Catch-Up Saturday:9

A Sleepin' Bee

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: A Sleepin' Bee (1957)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about the wonder of first love. How would you describe the sensation of falling in love?

Giddy!!

2) This 1957 album was the first Diahann Carroll ever recorded. More recently she recorded "A, You're Adorable," a nursery rhyme. (The lyrics are here.) Give us some words to a children's song that remain in your head to this day.

When I was little, we would always sing in the car when we were traveling somewhere.  My mom loved to sing, but it was most fun when dad would sing, and one of our favorites was "There's a hole in the bottom of the sea...."  It went on and on and on and made us all giggle!

3) 1957 was the peak of the Baby Boom (1946 to 1964). Are you a Boomer, a Gen X-er, a Gen Y-er, or a Millennial?

Why yes, yes I am a Boomer (and proud of it!).

4) In 1974, Diahann was named to the Best Coiffed Hall of Fame by the Guild of Professional Beauticians. How often do you change your look?

It has been years and years and years....sigh.

5) Ms. Carroll made history as Julia in the first network TV show to star a black woman. She played a nurse. Do you/have you ever worked in the healthcare profession?

I remember that show, and liked it!  I worked for the American Red Cross Blood Services, for six years.  Collecting blood is part of our healthcare system, I think.  (No, I'm not a phelebotomist.)

6) She also played glamorous, scheming Dominique Deveraux on the nighttime soap, Dynasty. Who is the most memorable female villain you've ever seen in a TV show or movie?

Currently, I would probably say it is Victoria Grayson, on Revenge.  There have been many, though!!

7) Ms. Carroll began her career as a model. Her height (nearly 6' tall) is an asset in that profession. Are you pleased with your height? Or do you wish you were taller, or shorter?

Well, I AM six feet tall (or just about).  I'm not unhappy with it, but it has made buying clothes hard through the years.  More of an average size would be easier, I guess.  Thinner would also be nice.

8) Now in her 80th year, she keeps on working. Recently she's appeared on TV in Grey's Anatomy and Blue Collar and on the big screen in Tyler Perry Presents Peeples. How do you feel about retirement? Is it something you enjoy or look forward to? Or would you prefer to continue working?

I can't wait for retirement!! I am ready now, but still have two or three years to go.  I know I will LOVE it!!  I am ready now!  Did I say I am ready now?

9) In her long movie career, Ms. Carroll has played love scenes with some very good looking men, including Sidney Poitier and Billy Dee Williams. If you could steal a kiss from any actor or actress, who would choose?

Well, my two movie star heart throbs have always been Andy Garcia and Sam Elliott.  Yum.  And, yes, Joe knows about it!  LOL

We are home safely from our trip down south!  Had a great time and will post photos tomorrow!  Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Peace & blessings.

  3. I guess I'm lazy too, because I'm looking forward to retirement too. I think it will be wonderful to travel during the low season and not just when things are so expensive like in the summer. Lots of my family work in health care. I think most of my cousins do. I think I'm one of the few teachers. And I have to say when Dynasty was on TV in Spain, the shops were empty!
