Welcome to Saturday:
9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every
Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the
questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random
questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants
posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice.
We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: Margaritaville (1977)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song Jimmy sings of "booze in the blender." What do you prepare in your blender? Smothies and slushy mixed alcoholic beverages.
2) As the song opens, Jimmy is sitting on his front porch swing. Describe the front porch of the building you're in right now. Our house has no front porch. I miss having a front porch with a swing.
3) Jimmy sings of being able to smell boiling shrimp. Do you prefer your shrimp boiled, glazed or breaded? Oh, if it is shrimp, I like it. I LOVE shrimp.
4) During the song, he mentions his flip flops. Have you put your flip flops and sandals away till spring? Or is it still warm enough to wear them? I can't wear flip-flops anymore because of some foot surgery I had in 1989. I wear sandals, though, and it is still in the low 90s during the day, here in central Florida, so I have not put them away yet.
5) Jimmy
Buffett had hoped this song would be recorded by Elvis Presley, but The King
died before he could perform it. What's the first Elvis song that comes to
mind? The first one I thought of was Blue Christmas, which I absolutely hate. I don't mind Elvis songs, except for that one.
6) Buffett fans are known as Parrotheads. Concert attire for a well-dressed Parrothead often includes a Hawaiian shirt and a foam fin hat. What will you be wearing tonight? I am wearing my pajamas! Ha ha ha! I would not wear a fin hat to any concert, but Hawaiian shirts also say Florida....
7) Loyal Parrotheads paid between $500 and $5000 to see Mr. Buffet at a fundraiser for Barack Obama's 2012 Presidential campaign. What's the most you would pay for a concert ticket? I don't go to concerts. I don't like crowds. If someone gave me free tickets, I would give them away. Sorry. And just for the record, I wouldn't go anywhere near obama.
8) Jimmy is an outspoken environmentalist and supports causes like ocean conservation, saving the manatees and expanding the Dallas Zoo. What steps do you take to help save the planet? We recycle, which I believe in. I think we should do away with the EPA, though, and several other government agencies. Give that responsibility back to the individual states.
9) Uh-oh. When Jimmy and the Coral Reefers played in Wisconsin this past August, more than two dozen concertgoers got tickets for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Do you believe pot should be legalized? No, I do not.
We had a great time at the Museum's members' opening, last night. We heard a great talk by our Curator, and then nibbled some yummy food and socialized with several friends before heading home. The marble floors are brutal on bad knees, but we hung out for an hour or so. There was a great crowd. Our auditorium holds 152, and there were people standing in the back (though a few empty seats could be found toward the front).
Thanks for stopping in! Wishing you a good weekend! Peace & blessings!

I wouldnt go anywhere O. is either. I was not an Elvis fan, if you can believe it. I like to hear him sing some hymns, but even that, not much. My flip flops are put away already. Have a good weekend. God bless.
ReplyDeleteGoing to be putting my flip flops away soon. I am loving our Fall weather. I like a few Buffet songs but I'm not a Parrothead. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAwesome answers. I always enjoy these. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI don't like crowds and I don't like waste either. I have a busy day ahead of me, so hope you have a good Saturday.

ReplyDeletesorry...I deleted my comment then the phone rang and I've been talking way too long. Now I should once again try to reply. LOL
DeleteThanks for the compliments on my blog...I so enjoy your positive words.
I've never liked crowds, but if there is a chance to see someone in person, I'll go and enjoy my time. As far as legalizing marijaweenie, I'm for it...'cause for one thing [like prostitution]...that is for this purpose...it won't make those that stop for traffic violations get shot and killed - those who are innocent, and if they legalize it they can tax it as with prostitution...keeping it much safer health-wise for all involved. Just my opinion.
In a perfect world, I agree with legalizing ALL illegal drugs, to get them off the streets and put some tax money into the coffers instead of a thug's pockets. The vote here in Florida, though, is for a proposal that has waaayyy too many loopholes in it. There will be pot stores in all the gas stations. Now I know liquor is monitored and taxed, etc., etc., and kids still get it, like they do cigarettes. If we were talking about a medicinal form of hash that has the hallucinogens removed and is truly medicinal, I am all for it, because it really does help people manage their pain. Having pot stores springing up on every corner, and kids smoking pot on the street corners....not for that. Voters need to pay attention to the language in the bills they are being asked to pass. I'll vote NO in Florida.
DeleteJimmy Buffett was popular when I was in jr. college. Can you believe I've never been able to tolerate flip flops! Mama always teased that I was born with socks on!!!
ReplyDeleteI never cared for Jimmy Buffett but I remember this song. He's just another one of Obama's Hollywood fans. I don't do concerts either... never have. I did go to just one several years ago. The singer was Don Francisco. If you don't recognize the name, you might want to check him out.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend.
I'm sorry to hear that he's an Obama fan, but then a lot of those famous folk are. No concerts for me either - not a fan of crowds!
ReplyDelete#4 And to think that I grew up calling them 'thongs.' LOL
ReplyDelete#6 I wouldn't wear a fin hat. And even though I love my state of Wisconsin, I wouldn't wear a cheesehead hat either.
I grew up calling them thongs, too, but now that means underwear (that fit your butt like flip-flops fit your feet!). Go figure! Ha!
