Saturday 9 Meme...

Good morning! I am late getting this posted. Joe (and I) had a great dinner at Bonefish Grill last night. We came home and watched the last episode of Moll Flanders, on Acorn TV. It was SO well done. I left the computer closed, so have some catching up to do now. On to the Saturday 9....

Roar

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants’ posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Roar
(recommended by Cat)

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.

1) The lyrics begin with Katy singing about when she used to "hold her tongue." Tell us about a time when you didn't speak up, but wish you had.  I don't like conflict, and don't handle it very well, so I usually hold my tongue until I am fed up, and then I lash out and say things I shouldn't. It doesn't happen often, because I am pretty laid back, but I really should communicate better, so I don't have to be pushed to the edge (so to speak). Just one of the many things I need to work on!

2) The lyrics mention both lions and tigers. In addition to the big cats, the video shows a monkey and an elephant. If we were going to the zoo today, which animal would you want to see first? I actually enjoy the zoo, though I do feel bad for the wild animals that should not be in cages. I think zoos have come a long way, and they do care for the animals, physically and emotionally. Most animals in zoos today, were born into captivity and don't know any better. I LOVE the big cats, so would enjoy watching them first, but I also enjoy seeing the elephants and the monkeys (and all the animals).

3) Lions and tigers are carnivores. If we were having steak for dinner, would you order it rare, medium or well done?  I always order my steak and burgers "medium". I like the center to be pink, but no blood running. I have trouble eating raw meat, including fish. Sushi is good if it is cooked fish or vegetarian. I can't do the raw stuff, and don't like smoked salmon, either.

4) Lots of photos are snapped at the zoo. Did you take your last picture with a camera or with your phone? My phone has a better camera than my point-and-shoot camera, so I don't bother with the camera anymore. I always use my phone.  I have the Galaxy S5, Android smart phone. Love it.

5) The "Roar" video takes place in the jungle. The average temperature all year around in the rain forest is a humid 80º. The typical September day in Juneau is 49º, dry and sunny. Which sounds more comfortable? I really don't like the humidity, but we live with it, here in Florida, all summer long. Right now, 49° and dry sounds nice, but I know it gets a lot colder than that at night. I'll stick with 80° and humid. It is 81° at 11:00 a.m., September 6th (right now), and doesn't feel too bad, actually.

6) In her youth, Katy took dance lessons at the local recreation hall in Santa Barbara. Crazy Sam took tap dance lessons as a girl, too. What about you? Were you sent off to dance class? Music lessons? Art class? I have had tap, ballet, modern jazz, clogging, baton, piano, organ, trumpet, and many art classes. I am not accomplished at any (wasn't bad on the trumpet, I guess). I have never really stuck to one thing. I find out I can do it, and it's time to move on to something else. Master of none....

7) Katy recently passed Justin Bieber as the most followed person on Twitter. What's the last message you re-tweeted?  I don't have a twitter account. Facebook and Blogger are enough distraction!

8) Congratulations! You just won the lottery! Do you want it in a lump sum, or would you prefer payments over the next 25 years? Lump sum, please.

9) Did you get 8 hours sleep last night? Last night, yes I did. I did not set the alarm for this morning (hooray!). I usually only get 5 or 6 hours of sleep through the week, so look forward to sleeping later on Saturdays and Sundays.

Let me just say that I know the name Katy Perry, but don't know that I would know what she looked like. I don't follow the younger set anymore, and don't recognize them at all. I might have heard a name, but I just don't pay attention anymore, and we don't watch the award shows on TV.

I am being a lazy slug this morning. Made us a nice bacon and egg breakfast, with wheat toast, fresh fruit and OJ, then cleaned up the kitchen, but have done little else. We will go to Mass at 4:00, with no plans after that. I put a beef roast out to thaw, to put in the crock pot tomorrow. Wishing you a good weekend!! Thanks for stopping by. Pick one or two of the 9 questions and answer them for me in your comments, if you want to!! Peace & blessings!

  1. Lottery? Definitely NOW. :-)

I took tap, ballet, modern jazz, acrobatics, and point/toe. I loved ballet the most. My teacher stopped giving lessons so I didn't pursue it past elementary school. But I always loved dancing! I took flute for a year, but switched schools. I tried to take it up again as an adult, but the instructor was one step removed from the commandant of marine boot camp! I took piano, and I tired of it. But I taught myself to play the dulcimer, sort of. ;-) I took art in high school and had a piece entered in the state arts festival. But I graduated and didn't pursue it. Now, I want o take sewing lessons, though I think I would enjoy shop more! I love o build things. I built several pieces of furniture in college for my grad school apartment. Necessity is, after all, the mother of invention, and thy actually looked pretty good!

Hope this okay. I enjoyed reading your answer. I love to see the giraffes at the zoo. They fascinate me!

    xo

I dont watch the award or reality shows on tv. I may be a slug and not know it! lol I know you had a nice evening at Bone Fish and tomorrow's roast will be yummy.

  5. I really hate the humidity, so I'm glad Madrid is dry - at least in the summer. Temps have gone down in Ohio this evening. I think it's about 70 F. I'm not a big meat eater, and when I do it must be well-done, which is why I don't often eat it. They burn it, but it's not cooked to my satisfaction. We won't say anything about French restaurants!

  6. I love the zoo. Tigers are my fave.
I love that the smart phones have great cameras. I use it all the time.
    Never took any dance lessons.
    Have a great day!

  7. Fun to read your answers Terri. I'm with you on taking the lump sum in the lottery. Who knows if a penny of it would be there tomorrow! And also like you, I've always had many interests: piano, accordian, horses, etc. But never proficient, although I can work myself through a piano piece because I learned to read music. And had to tell you that Doctor House was an amazing comedian long before he became a brilliant 'doctor.' He's also a blues pianist. Check it out. And I think you would love Jeeves & Wooster. I have to check out the latest offerings on Acorn. Did you see The Guilty with Michael Kitchen? He is a favorite of mine and that was a good movie!!

  8. Let's see. Hate humidity, too, so I'd have to go with Juneau. Lump sum. Don't tweet anymore. Tap lessons, appeared on TV a few times;k in elem school we all had to learn folk dances and perform, including ballet. Learned clarinet for band (the cheapest instrument my folks could afford). I'm just like you, Terri, I hold my tongue too long. Finally, and probably most importantly, I always make a bee-line for the River otters...my absolute favorite zoo animal, followed by sea lions. Enjoy your weekend, Toots. Hugs
