It's a Fall Y'All Hodgepodge!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 191

Here are the questions for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog, then hop back HERE tomorrow to share answers and add your link to the party...see you there!

1. It's fall. Y'all. My (Joyce's) favorite season of the year! What's something you love to do this time of year that makes you feel it's officially fall?  It isn't quite Fall, here in central Florida. It is still hot and sticky. When our Fall does arrive, my favorite thing is to open the doors to our screened in pool area. It makes the house feel twice as big, and the fresh air feels great!  And unrelated to that, do you ever say-'y'all'? I do say it occasionally, but not as often as two of my co-workers who are from Alabama and Georgia. They say it all the time!

2. When did you last have a falling out with someone?  I mentioned it in a blog several weeks ago. It was here at work. Has it been resolved?  Seems to have been resolved.

3. A song you love with the word 'fall' in it's title?  "I Fall To Pieces" by Patsy Cline

4. What's something you've recently let 'fall by the wayside?'  Cleaning!!

5. When did you last attend an event, read a book, watch a movie, try a new recipe, or visit a shop-town-tourist attraction that fell short of your expectations?  Gosh - probably a book, but I can't remember the title, because I just dismiss it and move on.  In what way?  If a book doesn't really grab me in the first two chapters, I will probably not continue to read it (unless it came recommended, and I know it will get better).
6. Describe a time you said or thought, 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."  I think it frequently about Joe, because the older he gets, the more he seems to be like his dad in so many ways. And he would take that as a compliment!!
7. Was today better than yesterday?  Yes and no.  Why or why not?   Because I am taking a few days off from Blogger and Facebook, in order to get some things accomplished. I really do find social media to be distracting and time consuming (in a good way, usually). A few of you have taken some time off, so I'll plan to be back before the end of next week.  Probably in time for next week's Hodgepodge.  It is so easy for me to sit down and find two or three hours have gone by, and nothing has gotten done. I'll give you a full report in my first post next week (sometime!).

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  I hope no one is taking bets on how long I can say away. I was addicted to Pinterest when I first created my page, and now I rarely go there. It won't be the same with FB and Blogger, though. I would miss y'all too much. I still miss my Multiply friends who chose not to continue blogging. A short break will be good, but I will sure be thinking about you.

Thanks for stopping by my Hodgepodge today! Thanks to Joyce for another fun Q&A!!  Peace & blessings!

  1. I think some time away from blogging or FB is a good thing. We can get our heads around something other than the computer. Enjoy your time away and we will look forward to your return.

  2. Oooo I still love Pinterest. It is a major time killer but I can't stay away. lol
    Have a great week!

  3. I don't like pinterest 'cause they make money from people sharing pictures and crafts and ideas. Seems like a copyright issue. But, that is par for the course when it comes to internet anymore.

I don't do FB except for reading my daughter's posts. Other than that, the members aren't as friendly as bloggers in my opinion.

Enjoy your break. DO hope you return. I know you're a very busy lady.

  4. I don't blog every day, I aim for 4 times a week, often it's only 3. I still enjoy it and the connections I've made too. You and I are in the same boat when it comes to cleaning. So many much more fun things to do : )

  5. I agree on what my daughter-in-law calls FB - it is a "time suck" for sure. But I have very good friends on FB and probably shouldn't spend so much time there, but since retiring, I enjoy the back and forth visiting with everybody. I wish I could blog more often - thoughts come to me in the shower, in the car, etc. and when I sit down to the computer? Well, it just feels like work!
I Fall to Pieces is one of my favorites, Teri, and was also my answer.
Will look forward to seeing you return. Good luck on staying off.

  6. I love Patsy Cline. Her music is one of the country music CD's I do have. I really enjoyed the Grand Ole Opry as a child. Unfortunately, we still have falling tree limbs in Madrid, so that's not good. My place isn't too messy at the moment after not having been lived in for a few weeks. I swept yesterday, but haven't performed my most hated task yet, i.e, dusting.
Enjoy your time out from the blog world. I did.

  7. I always love reading your answers on Wed. I've found 2 more people who like Patsy Cline. :)
I could have said the same about Bob on question #6.
Everyone needs a break occasionally. Hope you have a good one.

  8. I'll miss your blogs so, Terri, but certainly understand. Do come back though.

My Autumn rituals would be to retire my potted plants and clean up the pots for storage. If the kids come visiting, they still like to carve pumpkins, but if they're not around, there's no carving. Lee still likes to hang up the Halloween spider decoration.
"I fell into a burning ring of fire..."
    Ya'll
" Nut and the Tree" said to my daughter Julie about her daughter, just yesterday.
Went to Texas Roadhouse, and the whole dining experience was less than good, so that would qualify for "falling short"
Can't say today is better than yesterday since we're dealing with the eminent death of a dear friend. My son is coming down to say farewell to him this afternoon, so I guess that makes today better than yesterday.
Random thought is that we should enjoy each other while we're here, together, and happy. Fire and rain...

  9. I really like Pinterest and it's been very helpful with wedding ideas. :) I can spend too much time on the computer too, with FB and blogging. A break is a good idea. Hope you enjoy yours - see you soon!

  11. Same with me (as with Linda). No FB. I hear about so much stuff from family and friends that I'm glad I can stand back and not get involved! Hope you have a nice break away, Terri. Blogging certainly does eat up time. I'm thinking about a break myself, or at least going to blogging 3 times a week and being more organized about it. Don't hold your breath, though. LOL xoxo
