Saturday: 9

Good Saturday to you!  We are off to Tampa today, as mentioned in yesterday's blog. I'll have some photos to share tomorrow (I hope!). Until then, enjoy the Saturday: 9 Meme!!

Mine Would Be You
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Mine Would Be You
(recommended by Kathy W)

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.

1) The lyrics mention his respect for "90 proof and Marlboro Red." What was your most recent drink? When was your last cigarette?  My last cigarette was Labor Day 1983. My most recent drink, other than coffee this morning, was an adult beverage last night, to toast the end of my rather stressful week. I am not a drinker, and have never been drunk, but it just seemed like a good thing to do last night.  I had some Jamisons over ice, with butterscotch schnapps. Yum.

2)  They also reference "singing like crazy fools." What's the last song you sang?  I don't sing very well anymore, but I guess it would be the responses in church. Sometimes I sing in the car, with the radio, when no one else has to hear me!

3) Blake Shelton won a Grammy for his performance of this song. Crazy Sam won the award for "most improved bowler" when she was in third grade, and it's now in a closet somewhere. Do you have any trophies? If so, where are they?  I don't have trophies, but I have a few plaques hanging on the wall at work. One is for being an 'Unsung Hero' at the 2010 Relay For Life. Not real sure why they gave it to me. Everyone worked hard and behind the scenes for a great Relay.

4) Blake is currently on tour. The merchandise sold at concerts brings in big money for the artist. Do you have any tour memorabilia (like a poster or t-shirt)?  I like many kinds of music, and I like Blake Shelton, but I have never collected posters and t-shirts for bands or musicians. I do have a couple of t-shirts with artists' work on them, though.

5) In addition to The Voice, Shelton is on TV a lot with his Pizza Hut commercials. What chain restaurant is nearest your home? Do you eat there?  Nearest would be Denny's, but we are close to Wendy's, Popeye's, Rib Crib, China 1, and McDonald's. Lakeland has them all, and we are less than 3 miles from most of them.

6) Shelton has a million-seller CD called Cheers! It's Christmas! What's the first Christmas carol to pop into your head this hot summer Saturday? "Mary, Did You Know?". It is my favorite, since it came out a few years ago. Beautiful song.

7) Shelton and Miranda Lambert were married in front of 550 guests. Do you enjoy weddings?  Yes, I do. We only get invited to ones for people we know and love, and they are such happy occasions!! What's not to enjoy?

8) The wedding took place on a big Texas ranch. Have you spent much time on a farm or a ranch? My grandparent's farm when I was very little, and my cousins' dairy farm when I was a tween. Not so much since then. I'm a small-town girl, though, and a neighbor's field was right behind our house. We could always see the corn one year, soy beans another, and wheat another year.

9) In 2013 he helped organize a relief benefit concert for victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes. Tell us about a charity you support.  I was a team captain for seven years, for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and we raised thousands of dollars during that time. I, of course, support the non-profit museum where I work. We give money to church and several other charities during the year, and give food to our church's food bank.

Thanks for peeking in today! I appreciate your time and your comments! Peace and blessings!!

  1. You are definitely a giver. I am not really a t-shirt wearer, so none with pictures or words on them. We have several of the eateries close by too. Enjoy your adventure in Tampa today. Will look forward to pictures.

  2. When it comes to country music, I am a hater. LOL But I do love Blake Shelton! I couldn't think of a Christmas carol after I read the whole question because I had to run through a list at that point instead of noticing the first one. I think I have back-to-school brain. LOL

  5. Singing in the car.... that's the new "sound stage" for amateur singers these days. I've seen so many of those videos on FB. :) I love that Christmas song too. It's a beautiful song.

  6. I enjoyed all your answers, Terri, but your #5 brought that wonderful song to my mind again. I absolutely LOVE IT!

  7. Modern country music just doesn't appeal to me, so I had to go to the video. As for Christmas carols, I've always liked The Little Drummer Boy. Everyone who knows me knows every year I have to hear, and possibly sing, Wham's Last Christmas. I don't have a good voice either.
