Friday Funbits....

I made that up, can you tell?  Funbits.

I am ready for some fun this weekend. It has been a hellacious week.  Dealing with insurance adjusters and contractors and playing referee with maintenance staff has just about done me in.  (What is it about having more than one alpha male in a space that automatically causes the testosterone to juice up and over flow?!!!)  That and trying to get the July financials done, staff having to move around because they had to vacate offices, school starting Monday and access to the two classrooms we rent to the Montessori Middle School are affected by the water problems, too. I'm ready for the weekend.

Our vet, Dr. Jill, and her tech, Sandy, made a house call last night. Vinny needed his annual shots, which he got. Lucy has an allergy and needs a steroid shot every few months, which she got last night, and then Dr. Jill gave Onyx a once-over and pronounced him doing well. He has gained 1.4 pounds since his bad time last month. We are to continue with his meds and make sure he continues to eat, eat, eat. So, it was a good visit. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Jill. Her business is Polk County Veterinary House Calls. She works from a veterinary clinic in the next town over, but makes house calls three days a week. We have used her services for years and years, and trust and respect her.  She left our house and went next door, for Bob & Ginny's Millie. We have recommended her to all of our animal-loving friends!  This is from a newspaper article awhile back....

For the Love of Pets: Auburndale Veterinarian Makes House Calls

Veterinarian Jill B. Davis conducts a house call in Winter Haven on Wednesday. "It's often people who work during the day and have multiple animals," Davis says of her clients.

Tonight is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics. We celebrate the Feast of the Assumption.  Tomorrow I hope we have time to run over to Tampa to the History Museum. There is an exhibit of Highwayman art that I want to see before it closes, after this weekend. Sunday, our techie friend, Gregory, is coming for dinner and to help us with my new laptop and Joe's new Kindle Fire. We just feel better when he puts his touch to them before we do something that messes one up.

So - bring on the weekend!!  I'm wishing you a good one, too!! Thanks for stopping by! Peace & blessings!

  2. Very good news about Onyx. A vet making house calls is a treasure for sure. I have a Kindle Fire and love it! It goes where I go, and already have over 200 books on it, so I can never be bored, just dig out the Kindle! Happy weekend, sounds like you need it badly.

    1. I love my Nexus7 tablet, and it goes everywhere with me. Joe got my old (ancient) Kindle, so he is looking forward to having a new toy to play with.

  4. That's great your 'traveling' vet gave your babies a good report. I had an appointment Wed. for our nephew (our techie) to come look at my computer, but had to cancel due to Teresa's emergency. He lives several miles to our west, so I'll have to wait until he makes another trip here to see his dad (Bob's brother).
I hope you have a great weekend.

  7. You could have also entitled this furfacts, because that's what I read at first. What wonderful news about Onyx! Let's hope he continues doing well. As for those alpha males, stand up to them! You might even be taller! Enjoy your Friday.

    1. Brenda, that certainly would have fit, since there is more here about the fur-babies than there is "fun"!! As to the alpha males...I usually am taller, but one of these guys is about a head taller and twice my weight!! I wouldn't want him to take a swing at me. LOL He is gone from the job now, and his replacement is so tiny, he could be a jockey!! Seriously!
