My Life
Welcome
to Saturday:
9.
What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions
every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other
times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do
"random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit
other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have
any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however,
and here is today's meme!
1)
This song begins with the story of a man who moved to Los Angeles to
pursue a career as a comic. What comedian always makes you laugh? Jeff Foxworthy is one. I enjoy comedy, but don't care for comics who use bad language. Keep it clean and make me laugh!
2) The lyrics say, "You don't need to worry about me 'cause I'm alright." Tell us about a time when you had to reassure your family or friends. When I got a cancer diagnosis. It is harder on those who love us, than it is on ourselves, I think. I've been on both sides.
3) This song was the original theme of the Tom Hanks sitcom Bosom Buddies. Tom Hanks is a direct descendant of Nancy Hanks, Abraham Lincoln's mother. Is there anyone noteworthy, celebrated or infamous in your family tree? My ancestor, who fought in the American Revolution, was a spy (for our side). That is pretty exciting, I think.
4) Before going solo, Billy Joel was in bands called The Echoes, The Emeralds, The Hassles and Attila. What do you think would be a good name for a band? I haven't a clue. It's not something I've even given any thought to. Our son was in a band, when he was in college, called "Inside Out". I thought that was clever.
5)
Billy Joel wrote one of his most famous songs, "Just the Way You
Are," for his first wife, Elizabeth. Even though they divorced
more than 30 years ago, fans still demand he perform the song in
concert. Do you go out of your way to listen to songs that remind you
of a long-ago lost love? Or do you avoid them? There is only one song that reminds me of a man I dated (before Joe), and I don't avoid it. I know all the words, and usually sing along. My heart wasn't broken by that man. He wasn't a great love, and I heard a few years ago that he died many years ago. Now, Joe and I have a "song" and it still makes my heart happy, over 30 years later!!
6) In 2008 Billy Joel had to return a $3,000,000 advance for his memoirs because he didn't finish them. Have you ever read a celebrity tell-all? I read Gilda Radnor's book, and enjoyed it, but normally don't care for biographies or autobiographies, whether a tell-all, or not.
7) Billy Joel was in a motorcycle accident and did irreparable damage to his left thumb. Are you comfortable on a motorcycle? No.
8) In addition to riding cycles, Billy enjoys sailing in Oyster Bay. Do your summer plans include time on a boat? Not anymore, but I grew up with summer weekends and vacations that included boating.
9) Billy Joel is a popular college commencement speaker. If you were asked advice from the Class of 2014, what would you say? Be happy. If something is stealing your joy, walk away. Life is too short to be stuck in a job that does not make you happy. Same for relationships! Be true to yourself, first.

Thanks for peeking in on this lazy Sunday!! Wishing you a good week ahead! Be blessed!

I like Billy Joel's songs, but I don't think I want to listen to him at a graduation. I'll listen to you though! Good advice!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mari. Your advice is good. There's a musical programme on TV that is devoted to music from the 70's and 80's. Of course, it includes a lot of Spanish music. One of my favourite songs from this era is Antonio Vega's La Chica de Ayer (Yesterday's Girl) - that's me. I remember seeing a photo of my great-grandfather Jess with a Confederate general, though I don't recall which general. Enjoy your Sunday
ReplyDeleteInteresting answers, and always positive and in agreement with what I like/dislike...lol
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the post Terri. Completely agree with Mari. Good advice. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, Your Day sounds like ours. I cleaned yesterday and I'm taking it easy today. I liked your answers to the questions. In addition to Foxworthy, I enjoy Jerry Seinfeld too (or at least his old show). He makes me laugh!
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! I had no idea about some of those questions. Have a great Monday. Blessings
ReplyDeleteNice meme. I've always enjoyed Billy Joel's music....never heard him speaking. I wouldn't mind listening to him during a graduation speech.....couldn't be any worse than some I've had to sit through :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have heard and listened to your advice many years ago. I stayed in couple bad relationships way too long and in a job I didn't like for way too long too. I'm making up for it now, broke, but making up for it. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI bet Gilda Radnor's book was pretty interesting. I'm not one for that type of book either. Very few interest me enough to read one.
