Monday Already?!

Well, I got up and made it to work today. The week has begun.  I really have nothing exciting or interesting to report. Typical Monday, after a very nice weekend.

Our weather is steamy and rain is predicted. I have a busy week ahead, with work meetings, etc. Nothing sexy or fun, I'm sorry to say.

We spoke with our son & DiL yesterday. They have had a terrible experience with United Van Lines moving their things down to Georgia, from Pennsylvania.  Broken and missing items. We had the same experience with United, 25 years ago, so nothing has changed. We lost three boxes, with antique floor vases, my teapot collection and all my dining room linens. They lost a dog grooming table, a pet cage, and had more things broken than arrived in one piece.  I'm so sad that companies just don't care anymore. If there is insurance involved, there is a very good chance that it will be taken advantage of and someone else will benefit from it. I'm sure our things were sold for a profit, and theirs probably will be, too. What a shame, and shame on them.  They are just things, and I survived not having my grandmothers floor vases and table linens. They are just things. But it is still a shame that customer service and trust are so non-existent, probably 80% of the time these days.

That's all I have. Thanks for stopping by!! Be blessed.

  1. And they are such a big moving company...a shame for sure. Nothing exciting going on here either. Love your new background. Happy Monday.

  2. I hope there are other companies that are more reliable. If not, how sad! It's sad anyway that you both have had similar experiences with this company.

  3. My mil had a very similar situation while moving from Arizona to Alabama 15 yrs ago. We didn't use a moving company, we did it ourselves (and for the record, will be the last time moving ourselves, lol). I pray they can recup their losses some how..Blessings

  4. Too bad. Lee and I moved ourselves, too, and I swore off ever doing that again. I, too, hope there are more reputable companies out there.

  5. That's awful!! They're just "things" but they cannot be replaced.

  8. Moving is challenging on so many levels. I hope they are feeling at home soon. We enjoyed our trip- we didn't go to Key West, stayed near Marathon. I think Key West might be even a little bit crazier than it was 20 years ago : )

  9. That is really sad about their move with United Van Lines. Those things should not happen. The last time we moved we used the self packing pods which worked out well. I will have to remind my son not to use them when they move to Pittsburgh.
