Joyce has given us another Hodgepodge of fun questions! Join the fun HERE.

1. According to
Oxford Dictionaries, the 2013 word of the year is 'selfie'. Your thoughts? When did you last take a selfie? Do you post them online somewhere?  Do you prefer to be in front of the camera or behind the lens?  I MUCH prefer to be behind the lens, and only tried a selfie once. It was terrible. Never tried it again.

2. Will you send out Christmas cards this year? If so, are they ready to go? If not, are you glad or sad about leaving that tradition behind?  My labels are printed, and though the cards came a month ago, I have not started to sign them and get them ready to mail.  I have shortened my card list over the years. We used to send around 150. Too expensive now!  I still send out about 100, though.  We have friends from years ago, in different places we have lived, etc.  It’s hard to check someone off, so we keep sending our Christmas greetings, and I do enjoy receiving cards in the mail this time of year - especially from those we don't get to see during the year.

3. Do you trust easily?  I am too trusting, probably, but once I lose my trust in someone, it is rarely given back.  I can’t abide liars or con artists.   Once burned….

4. Pine-cinnamon-peppermint-vanilla (as in sugar cookie)...of those listed, which one is your favorite December scent?  This time of year, I have to say pine scents are welcome. Joe is allergic to real pine trees, so we always have an artificial tree. The pine scented glade candles smell really good.  Cinnamon would be my choice for any time of year, though!

5. Did you do more talking or more listening yesterday? Was that by choice or necessity?  It was a quiet day at work, for the most part. I had my nose to the grindstone.  I probably listened more than talked.  That’s just the way it turned out – not by choice or necessity, really. It was just a more quiet day for me.

6. What's the last song that got stuck in your head? Sorry if it's back there now :  )  You may think it is a cop-out, but I rarely get a song stuck in my head and don’t really remember the last time it happened.

7. Which world explorer (in the whole history of the world) would you most like to have traveled with, and why?   I am not really the explorer type.  Give me a well-traveled path and a comfortable hotel along the way. I don’t like camping. Though I appreciate all our ancestors went through to get us to this point, I have no desire to go back and join a wagon train or a ship on the seas.  Happy that someone else went first!!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  My answers to these questions today make me sound extremely boring and stodgy.  I don’t think I am, but……there it is. Gee whiz.

  1. My dear friend, you are anything but boring, but we all have those 'down' quiet days. I am not sending cards this year due to 'down funding'.

  7. I don't think you are boring ... I think you are quite sane and a very busy lady who, with all those friends to send cards to, must have a lot to offer!!! Your answers to exploring are my feelings about that, too, although I did go camping in my younger days. How I wish that songs didn't get stuck in my head and drive. me. crazy!!!

  9. We've cut back on our list, but we still send close to 100 too. I enjoy that part of this season, and am not ready to give it up.

  10. Just to explain....Joe and I both have BIG families, and he had friends, and I had friends, and now we have friends together. I have friends and family in many states, as does he. We're so far away, and rarely (sometimes years) get to see our loved ones from times past. So - yes, there are a bunch of them, but we're talking - collectively - well over 75 years of knowing people.... I'll be 62 next week and Joe is 76. We have been blessed to be touched by many wonderful people, and Christmas cards keep us in touch, at least once a year.

  12. Again I have to agree with your answers. And I knew what you were referring to about the long list for cards. You are blessed indeed. But not boring! ♥

  14. I have cut back too. My list is shorter too due to deaths. But mainly I send an e-mail message with a christmas picture to about 60 folk and the rest who either don't approve of that or don't have computers get one in the mail. I love to sit down with a stack of cards to catch up on folksy news.

  15. Yesterday when I was going to class, a car came along playing loud music as usual. It was an oldie, not a goodie but certainly a feel good song: Funky Town. It sure made me happy!
