Saturday Blessings....

I spent the morning writing thank you notes to friends and family, for gifts, delicious meals, and for love and friendship offered all year long.  As I wrote them and addressed them, my thoughts were on the blessings given and how a simple thank you note seemed not enough. So many blessings!!

I am also blessed with the friendship and love I feel from my connections here. Over the years, I have met some of you in person, which takes the 'cyber-friendship' up a notch. Blessings indeed!!  Thank you for stopping by my page and reading my sometimes very boring drivel and leaving an encouraging message for me! Friendships made here are true friendships.

We will go to church this afternoon, for the 4:00 Vigil Mass.  Then we are stopping by the home of one of the Museum's Board Members.  He and his wife are celebrating 50 years of marriage and are having an open house today, from 4:30 - 8:00.  We were honored to receive an invitation!  I really like David and appreciate his leading the building & grounds committee of our Board.  Building & grounds is part of my department, so I work more closely with him (and the treasurer) than any of the other board members.  His wife is also a good supporter.  They live on a ranch south of town. They have a lovely old restored home, acres of land with cattle and out buildings holding old car hobbies.  We have been there before, a couple of times. They lend their home to the American Cancer Society for a big fund-raiser each year (Cattle Barron's' Ball), and have hosted the Museum staff there for picnics that included hay-rides through the fields. Generous, very sweet people.

I intended to get Christmas put away today, but Joe wanted to rest his knee (good idea) so I didn't ask him to climb up into the attic to bring down boxes. Maybe we'll get to it tomorrow.

I need to start getting ready for our evening, so will sign off for now.  Thank you again for your friendship and I wish everyone a wonderful new year!  Peace, love & hugs to you all!!

Oh - I almost forgot!  Took this picture at Sam's Club yesterday.  On to the next holiday, I guess!!

  2. LOL...I was just thinking that when I was putting decorations in boxes..."Hobby Lobby probably has Valentine's things out already"...and sure 'nough you show us Sam's Club. Yep...onto the next big day.

Hope his knee feels better....Bud has arthritic fingers and it's hard for him to even hold boxes sometimes, so I know just what you both are going through.

Sounds like a fun couple. 50 years...wow...something to be so very proud of!

And I agree with Linda....it's NEVER boring here.

  3. Boring??? NEVER, you two are such active fun people, it could never be boring. I love reading your entries and I love both of you...such good friends and when I am down, you bring me up just reading your blog. I think we are 'real' friends and hope to see you again some day. Til then, may you have the best New Year ever!

  5. Nah, you're not boring. I enjoy reading y'alls exploits. I believe that internet friendships are real friendships. We may not be able to go shopping or eat out together but we can rejoice in your happiness, cry with you when you're sad and pray for each other. That's a friend. :)

Sorry to hear about the knee trouble. My hubby had knee replacement surgery in July 2010. Working for BellSouth and jogging just tore up his body. (He worked "craft", outside, which was very physical.)

I'm so sick of all these holidays. I really wish retailers would give it a rest. I refuse to buy anymore junk. And about V Day, before my husband and I married in 1979 I told him I do NOT do Valentine's. I told him just be nice to me all the time (and he is). It's silly to put pressure on others to constantly be buying things for one as if it denotes affection. Just plain silly. I'd much rather have love.

    Happy New Year! ~:)

  6. Hope you and everyone, and especially the couple celebrating their 50th anniversary, enjoy a wonderful day. Vinny will surely be disappointed when you take down the decorations. What I've always found strange are Christmas lights left up all year long. Here we would think about the electricity we're wasting and that we have to pay for. Hope Joe's knee gets better. How is your back?

  7. Before Christmas one of my FB friends posted a pic of Christmas stuff next to Valentines + St Patty Day stuff. Crazy how the stores rush the holidays. Have a great evening!
