It's HodgePodge Wednesday!

1. What's your worst food memory?  How about one of your best?  Well, I don’t have very many BAD food memories, but without being more specific, let’s just say I can’t/won’t eat snails (Escargot) ever again.  My BEST food memory is one I’ve mentioned before…. White truffle pasta, at a little restaurant in Orvieto, Italy.  I will never forget the smell and the taste of that wonderful dish, in that beautiful ancient city.

2. Do you appreciate people telling it like it is, or would you rather a speaker temper his/her words and maybe beat around the bush a little?  How about when you're the one communicating...which type are you?  I am SO over game playing. Please, please tell it like it is. You don’t have to be nasty about it, but communication is key, and it shouldn’t take an hour to make a point. Just say it.

3. What's your favorite place to hang out?  On the sofa, in front of the TV, with Joe beside me.  We are old. We don’t do bars, we do TV.  We have two sofas, so come on over and join us!  Love having friends hang out with us at home. Our movie collection is over 700 and we have a popcorn machine sitting out, ready to pop at any time!

4. When do you most feel like you're a slave to time?  Monday through Friday, when the alarm rings at 5:00 a.m. and I have to get up to get ready for work.  So looking forward to retirement in a few more years!

5. What was the last concert you attended?  Who'd you go with? Was it any good?  I actually can’t remember the last concert I attended, but it would have been with Joe (we’ve been married 28 years and dated for 2 years before the wedding).  Neither of us likes to be in a crowd, and being at a concert (to me) is ridiculous – too many people being so loud you can’t hear the band or yourself… We have gone to many, many plays and musicals, however, where the audience is much quieter and well behaved! LOL

(Actually, Joe said we went to a Manhattan Transfer concert 3 or 4 years ago, here in Lakeland at the Lakeland Center. In a theater with a bunch of other old people! LOL)

6. Reality TV...harmful or harmless?  What's your guilty pleasure when it comes to reality TV? We don’t watch much ‘reality’ TV, but the few shows we do catch (Dancing With The Stars; Swamp People; Pickers; Pawn Stars; Cake Boss) we KNOW are rehearsed and edited…all of them are, no matter what they want you to think. There are scripts and rehearsals.  As long as you understand that it really isn’t “reality” I think it is okay to enjoy some of them. Many, though, have gone over the line for my taste and I won’t watch.

7. What's something you think is overrated?   Reality TV!  LOL

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  I am hoping for a good report from the surgeon today, when I go for my one-week post-op appointment. I don’t anticipate that the pathology will be any different from the biopsy, but I want to hear him say there is no cancer and all is well.

Thanks for stopping by for my HodgePodge!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Ewww I don't think I could eat snails. I've never had truffles either but I would try them.

I am guilty of watching tons of reality tv. I'm addicted. (hangs head in shame)

Hope your Dr visit goes well. Have a great day!

  2. I had snails on my birthday once. I don't remember the taste being disgusting. One of my favourite Spanish sausages that the American call blood pudding, because blood is one of the main ingredients, and the British call it black pudding, because it's black, and the Spanish call it morcilla may sound disgusting but it's delicious.

As for reality shows, I can't stand them. The other day I saw this posted on facebook (or something similar): When you watch a reality show, a book commits suicide.

I want to hear that your doctor says no cancer too. I pray that it's true.

    1. I like garlic & butter...it's the slimy rubbery muscle of the snail I can't stand, and I also don't eat oysters for the same reason. People say you don't chew them, you swallow them... no thanks. What's the point. Have some garlic & butter without the snail!!

  3. Praying all goes well at your checkup today, Terri. I'm not much on reality tv either, most seems inappropriate. I do enjoy Dancing with the Stars, only because I can't imagine having enough courage to try dancing in front of the world!

  4. Your opinion of reality shows is pretty much the same as mine. If you realize it's not "reality," then it's really not any different than any other scripted show except that most of the actors play "themselves."

I would love to visit you and your movie collection and popcorn machine!

Praying that all goes well for you with the doctor today!

  7. A popcorn machine? Wow! That and your movie collection? I'll be right there. LOL
Reality TV is over-rated. Most of them that I've taken a 'peak' at are so phony and ridiculous. I don't watch them.
Still praying for a good report from your surgeon. Keep us posted.
You have a great day. ♥

  8. I'll mention it in tomorrow's post, but if you come back to visit and those who haven't been here yet, the pathology report said BENIGN, and I have healed well enough to take the steri-strips off. Praise God!! Thanks for all the prayers!

  10. You have to let us know how your test came out!
And no snails for me either.

  11. I have never tried snails and do not want to. Anchovies were my worst food memory. Yuck! I, too, prefer for people to communicate. I know too many sweet Southern women who will tell you what they think you want to hear and then simmer and fuss about it later. For example - - - or maybe I have told you this before. You ask them where THEY WANT to eat lunch and they pick a place I like whether they like it or not.
Hopefully the report was good. I have checked today's updates yet.

  12. I can't really think of a bad food memory but one of my best was barbecue ribs at a place in Oklahoma City, OK. I like people to tell it like it is. My favorite place to hang out is the yard swing. Now that we are retired I never feel like a slave to time. I do not like Reality TV at all. Something I think is overrated is most movies now days. I too am hoping for a good report from you surgeon. Hugs
