Monday....

My day stated at the orthopedic doctor's office. They had me go to x-ray first. My knees have been x-rayed so many times, they are probably glowing!

The insurance company has not gotten back to them, to approve the Synvisc. I did have a
good conversation with Dr. Vo, though, and he gave me TWO shots of cortisone in each knee.  One in the knee sac, which hurt like the dickens, and the other into the bursa. My left knee also had more fluid in it, which he removed.  He said that this should get me through Mayfaire.... I will decide tomorrow if I think I need to rent a scooter for the weekend. Right now, they do feel better, except at the site where he removed the fluid. It still is quite painful.  (Photo is not my knee, but that's exactly where the needle goes into the knee cap area.)

I know that my pain is not near the pain others experience, so I just do my best to ignore it, and I appreciate you all 'listening' to me complain a bit.  I see Dr. Vo again in June. Hopefully they will have heard from Blue Cross by then!

Looking forward to our Mayfaire by-the-Lake art festival this weekend!! Lots of work, but also lots of fun! We have 165 artists juried in and many of them are new this year, so it will be very interesting to check them all out. It is a busy week, getting ready for it. Not so much for me, but for many others!  The artists' tents go 3/4 around Lake Morton.

Wishing you a good tomorrow!  Thanks for stopping by.  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Oh OUCH! Needles going into the knee make me shudder . Riding the scooter and resting your knee probably would be a good idea! Love and prayers!

    The art festival sounds fun!

  2. I agree with Cheryl, and I also think you might be better at standing pain than some people. I hope and pray that the insurance company comes through for you.

While I was reading your post, I was thinking it would have been nice if that TV programme that was recorded in Lakeland had been done during Mayfaire. I know the one they did on Kentucky was recorded around the time that there were some bad tornadoes in Kentucky.

  5. Oh, no!! That sounds so painful to have a needle stuck into your knee like that. Glad it has helped the knee to feel some better though. Hope you can make it through Mayfaire okay and have a great time. Hugs

  6. That photo may not be your knee, but I can imagine it being your knee and it makes me shudder! The thought of anyone putting a needle into my knee. Yikes. You're a brave woman. I guess that's what pain does to a person, huh! Hope you get some relief, Terri.♥

  9. Ow! Ow! Ow! I have had cortisone once in my knee. The doctor froze it pretty well because I did not feel anything. However before he did it, I told him I needed to lie down for the procedure. He said it had to be down with me sitting and the leg dangling over the table. I told him I might pass out. He said I didn't need to worry because if I hit my head when I fell, he had a best friend who was a neurosurgeon! My orthopedist is a really nice man who obviously likes to joke. My husband was in the room during the procedure. When he saw the length of the needle, he turned and faced the wall. I was glad when we got out to the car because I was feeling a bit woozy - - - only because my body had sensed the intrusion and was trying to compensate. However, I was impressed at the relief from knee pain I experienced.
