Hodgepodge Wednesday (something new!)....
My blogging friend, Sandie, posts her Hodgepodge answers every Wednesday, so I signed up for it here: http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/p/how-to-join-wednesday-hodgepodge_17.html
Sometimes the questions are difficult, but most of the time, not so bad. Here goes, hurriedly without much thought....
-----------------------------------------------------
1. When the children of today grow up, what do you think they'll say about this period in time? What do you most hope they remember?
I hope they don't curse us for the national debt. They will remember a country and world in turmoil and economic decline, and it's our fault. I hope they have fonder memories of loving families and friends, and can repair some of the damage we have done.
2. National Teacher's Day is celebrated in the USA on the first Tuesday in May, this year May 7th...share how a particular teacher positively influenced you.
I loved school and had many teachers who influenced me. Mr. Hoetzel- band, Mrs. Buskirk- art, Mrs. Finke-biology. Fond memories of my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Everhart. Teachers who all believed in me.
3. What's a dish your mama made, that if set in front of you today would whisk you right back to childhood?
Oh, my. My mom was a great cook, known throughout the neighborhood for her homemade noodles, used in her famous chicken & noodles. She also made the best vegetable soup.
4. Mother May I was a game we played when I was growing up...no pieces, parts, or plugs required. What games from childhood do you remember loving that were also pieces, parts, and plug free?
Hide & Seek and I Spy
5. Besides your own mother, tell us about a woman who influenced you as a child.
My grandmothers were always in my life (stability & love), as were our wonderful neighbors. My best friend's mom was like a mom for me, too, as were neighbors Mary Foley and Pat Snoke.
6. Mamma Mia! What's the best play or musical you've ever seen?
I've seen some wonderful plays and love the musicals. Having lived in the Metro D.C. area, I saw 'A Chorus Line' and '49th Street' both several times, at the Kennedy Center, and at the National Theater. Love the dancing!
7. What are three smells that make you feel nostalgic?
1. The smell of fried chicken; 2. the smell of a roast in the oven; 3. the smell of lilacs blooming.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
My thoughts today are all over the place, as noted on Facebook if we are connected there. Thinking about Joe's mom (today would have been her birthday), and my mom, with Mother's Day coming up; thinking about how blessed I am to have Joe in my life, celebrating our 28th anniversary this Saturday. Blessings. My random thoughts are full of blessings!
Another random thought just popped into my head.... I found an old acquaintance on Facebook today. Someone I used to baby-sit for when I was 13-14 years old. He looks older than me! I almost choked when I saw his picture!! LOL It can't be, can it?

So - there you have my hodgepodge!! Wishing you a good evening and a great Thursday! Peace, love & hugs.

ReplyDeleteGosh they looked older then you? lol That had to feel good. I agree with you on the kids and what they will remember. My MIL made the best homemade noodles. I love the smell of fried chicken too. And Happy Mother's Day to you and your mom - you are lucky to have her. sandie
