Maundy Thursday....
Today, we must reflect on the Last Supper and the agony of the cross that we know is coming. How blessed are we to be loved that much?

My laptop, at home, would not stay connected to the internet last night. I've been having issues with it. Got a new wireless network USB connector, which worked better for awhile, but seems to be failing me again. Joe's laptop connected fine, and his desktop was connected fine. Our TVs and our phones are all connected through our network and only my laptop is having issues. Sigh. My techie friend is on vacation this week, so if my fiddling with it doesn't get it fixed, it may be next week before I/he can find the problem. We use an amazing firewall for security (installed by our friend), so I am pretty sure it's not a virus.
Helen called last night and said Al's funeral went very well. She was pleased. The family all went out to eat afterwards, and she said it was nice to be all together. I think she was expecting 8 or 10. Al didn't have family, so these folks were all there for Helen. We will pick them up at the airport tonight. They get in around 7:30. Tomorrow is Helen's 85th birthday. I know she won't want to celebrate, but I thought I would have a cake for her, for Easter dessert.
It is cold again, here in sunny Florida! It was only 37 degrees this morning, though the beautiful moon was huge as it was setting in the west, and the sun is shining right now. A lovely day....if it would just warm up! We're to have low 70s today, and it will be back in the 80s by Monday.
My blogger friend, Judy, mentioned a couple of sites that can replace Google Reader, since we know they are yanking it away from us July 1st. I tried Bloglovin and like it so far. I've put the icon on my page, if anyone is interested in checking it out. Blogs don't show up there, as quickly as they do on the Reader...I've noticed that it is always a little behind, but it does catch up. Let me know what you think, or if you found one you like better!!
I need to get busy here!! Wishing you a good Thursday! Peace, love & hugs.

Hope your computer is up and running smoothly again soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's been colder than our averages here but at least today promises sunshine and a high of 50.
Have a great day and weekend
I've never used a blog reader. I will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteSorry your puter is having issues. I always seem to get the quirky electronics that have problems but nobodys elses has problems. Hope you can get it fixed soon.
Have a great weekend!
It was so sweet of you to have made a cake, an Easter dessert and birthday cake, for Helen. I'm sure she will appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteHaving grown up Baptist, I had never heard of Maundy Thursday until we visited a Lutheran church some years ago. Imagine how thrilled I was that Kevin and I and two of our grandchildren had the opportunity to attend Maundy Thursday service at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, UK in the spring of 2008. With communion and the stripping of the altar, it was a very moving service.
I knew that about Thursday but had forgotten the word maundy. Thank you for reminding me. * I sure hope you can get your laptop back up and running. I'm going to check out the blog reader. I've never tried one before. So far the Dashboard is getting me to everyone's blogs, at least I hope so.
ReplyDeleteYour computer is something of a mind reader. I'd planned on writing about them this week, so I hope you get your problem straightened out. I also hope Helen's flight isn't delayed although hopefully tomorrow is a holiday for you.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is not a holiday for me, though I could take it as a personal day if I wanted to. Monday is our holiday, since Easter falls on Sunday, we get Monday off.
DeleteQuestion? Why do we need a 'reader'? I read the blogs right here, comment right here, and don't go anywhere else to re-read. I am confused as to the loss of the Reader. You have such a good, kind heart when it comes to others and I know Helen will appreciate the cake. Hugs
ReplyDeleteDo you read our blogs through your Blogger dashboard? I've loved using Google Reader, because I can see all the unread blogs and it's easy to add new blogs to follow. The dashboard didn't do it for me. I really like BlogLovin, and it allows you to "Like" a blog, or leave it unread if you want to come back to it. I'm also going to look at Feedly. BlogLovin lets you pull in your list from Google Reader. Take a look, Linda.
DeleteIs that the google + you are talking about? I don't read them from the little red box in the right hand corner of my google page. I just do the google + button. Hope your laptop starts acting better. Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteNo, Lyn. I don't read from Google+. I have been using Google Reader (use the "more" dropdown button to find Reader). They are discontinuing it July 1st. I'm enjoying using BlogLovin for my 'reader' now.
DeleteThanks for clearing that up.
