Another Ten Thought Tuesday....

  1. The week is off and running!

  2. Joe has a CPA meeting tonight, so I think I will do a shopping run before I go home.  A couple more things to pick up....

  3. The neighbors across the street from us are our neighborhood's "Griswalds".  They have lights on the roof and every other bush and tree in the yard, including an arbor and little Christmas trees lining the sidewalk.  Puts everyone else to shame!  It's very festive, though!  They work on it for a couple of weeks.  They are hidden from the main road, so only 5-6 neighbors really get to enjoy all their hard work.

  4. Today is a 'catch-up' day at work.  I am up to my ears in paperwork, which is why I am procrastinating.  But, it must get done.

  5. Our Secret Santa starts this Thursday.  We do small gifts on Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday, then the "main" gift and big reveal on Wednesday, at our Staff Christmas Party.  I enjoy doing it each year.  Always fun, and I rarely guess who my Secret Santa is.  One year, I knew because everything smelled like smoke.  We only had one smoker on staff at the time.

  6. Our staff Christmas Party is next Wednesday night, at the Hilton Garden Inn.  This will be our third year doing it there.  They have a nice party room and decorate it for us.  We have a buffet dinner, and we are allowed to bring a guest.  In addition to the Secret Santa reveal, we also do a Chinese gift exchange, which is always fun.

  7. The neighbors' cats were not happy with me this morning.  Murphy swiped at me, and Millie ran from me.  They are both "momma's cats" and miss Ginny's spoiling.  By tonight, they will be happier about getting their dinner, I'm sure.  This happens whenever they are gone for a few days.

  8. Speaking of the neighbors, there were THREE boxes at their front door last night!  I almost didn't walk around to check, but something told me to go.  Glad I did!

  9. We are going "live" with our new software today, here at the office.  I'm not convinced this was a good decision, but we need to keep trying and make it work.  The investment is huge, in time and money.  Anyone who knows of Blackbaud products, understands what I'm saying.

  10. Time to get back to work!  I made it to 10.  Wishing you a good day!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Cats can be most ungrateful! When I used to look after my friend's dog, wherever I was Zara and Salve were. Of course, Zara was jealous.

You said you only had one smoker on your staff before. Does that mean you have more now? Hope not. Heavy smokers I don't think realize how much they smell like a giant ashtray.

Hope you get all your paperork out of the way.

    1. We have a couple of smokers, but they can't smoke in the building - have to go out back on the loading dock. They do smell like smokers, however. Not pleasant.

  3. The Griswald's? I love that movie. I hope they turn all those lights off when they go to bed. I'm sure it would keep some neighbors awake. LOL
I don't know Blackbaud products, but I know what it's like for an office to get new software. I hope it's a smooth transition.
The poor kitties... they miss their momma.
The Christmas party sounds like fun.
Hope you're having a great day.

    1. Yes, Carol, the cats next door miss their momma, but they were more receptive to me this evening when I went over. At least I got to pet each of them, and talk to them!!

  4. Boy, reading your list makes me realize how busy others are! I feel like a bum. lol We were fortunate that a family stayed in our house and took care of our cat and dogs while we were gone for three days over the weekend. It is wonderful to have people who can be trusted. i know your neighbors must appreciate you!

    1. We appreciate them, too, Judy. They watch ours, when we travel, too. It is so nice having good and trusted friends as neighbors!

  5. Great thoughts! When I worked at the chiropractic office we used to do secret Santa. It was always so fun. I had to laugh that you knew who your secret Santa was because it smelled like smoke! I hope your neighbor's cats warmed up to you when you came back to feed the dinner! What's that saying? Don't bite the hand that feeds you? LOL. Good luck with learning your new software..never a fun thing. Have a great day, Terri!

  6. There are a few "Griswalds" around us too! I enjoy doing the chinese exchange with the adults in our family - it really helps with the old pocketbook to only buy the one adult gift. That way we can concentrate on the 6 little ones. I know the fur babies next door miss their "mama", but at least they have a good sub to make sure they are fed. It is always frustrating a little when you get new software and have to learn all over and especially at a busy time of year! Have a good Wednesday...hugs

  7. We have quite a few new neighbors this year so I'm not sure how much they decorate. How nice that you get to enjoy their decorations every year.

Good luck with your new software.

Sounds like your knee is feeling better today. I hope you don't over do it and have to hobble home tonight.

I'm glad your feeling better today.
