Blah Wednesday....

If you saw my Facebook post this morning, you know that I stayed home from work today.

One of those nights when I just couldn't get to sleep.  I'm not worrying about anything, or concerned about anything.  It was probably because of the Mexican food I had for dinner, and/or the cold medicine I've been taking - maybe even the injection in my foot.  Who knows.  Anyway, I finally dozed off just before 3:00 and my alarm went off at 5:00.  I called in to take the day off, and went back to bed.

Feeling much better now, and I've been doing the stretching exercises for my foot, so it is feeling a little better.  It's sore in a different way, if that can make sense.  I'm walking better on it, so my knee isn't hurting as bad - bonus!

Hope your Wednesday has been better than mine, though I did start working on Christmas cards.  Printed the labels and got them stuck on.  I have cut our list down again this year.  Each year I knock some off - people we haven't heard from in years, other than at Christmas.  Kind of silly to trade cards and have no interaction at all during the year.  Is that bah-humbug of me?  I honestly don't think our card will be missed by those we have cut.

My sister sent me a birthday present and it came today - two weeks early!  What fun to have a box to open!!  She gave me an awesome purse (love it, Patti!) and a beautiful blouse.  There was also a package of pasta in the box, and the pasta is shaped like cats!  LOL  Not sure how that will feel to be eating cat heads, but I'm sure it will taste good!

Wishing you a good Thursday.  I'll go to work tomorrow.  Hope the sleep comes fast tonight!!  Peace, love & hugs!!

  2. Glad you're feeling some improvement in your foot. I have been feeling the need to cut my card list as well, but I just hate to lose track of people forever. Most of the people on my card list I never hear from at all anymore...Christmas or otherwise. I guess it's time to let them go.

  5. I hate those nights when that happens but research says it is actually normal. You are being alert and up to protect your tribe. Old folk go to bed really early and are up to stoke the fires in the night, while teenagers stay up guarding the camp until the middle of the night, mothers are up with babies....etc....at any one time !/4 of the community is guarding the tribe and alert. It is programmed into our DNA. I felt so much better about waking in the night when I read this research. The bottom line is that it is normal and DO NOT take sleeping pills or especially those one that do another dose later at night. Our bodies don't like it. The book was fascinating but the research is still going on. Robert Frost, evidentally would wake in the middle of the night, and go to milk his cows early, return to his kitchen to write poetry and go back to bed for hours. Society just does not want us to do what is natural for our bodies. Indigenous folk have a better handle on this.

  6. Sometimes we just have to listen to our bodies and take a day off! I'm glad you are feeling better. I need to start working on my Christmas cards. I think I'll do that this weekend.

What a nice surprise to receive your birthday gift from your sis!

    Happy Friday Eve!

  7. Sorry neither you nor Kris won on the lottery. As people say in Spain, you won in health, so hope you're feeling better and slept well last night.

What nice gifts from your sister! I'll bet the cat pasta is delicious and pretty when cooked.

  8. I have been going back and forth as to whether to send any cards at all this year. I have about decided NOT to do cards. I can wish my online friends a Merry Christmas here, and my family, I can say it face to face. My church has a "mailbox" where we can put a card for every single person in the church, without have to pay postage. I dont think I am even going to do that, because you have to purchase alot of cards and that is money spent that I just dont have this year. Not being a Scrooge, just cant do it all. So glad you are feeling better....it is tough when something sets you back like that. Have a good day!
