We know it is October in Lakeland, Florida, when the First United Methodist Church puts out their annual Pumpkin Patch! I snapped this photo today, on my way to the bank. I can guarantee that there won't be any frost on these punkins!
Did any of you see the news about the absolutely idiotic man who died after winning a contest to eat the most LIVE roaches and worms in a certain amount of time? He won, then died. It makes me gag just thinking about eating a roach or a worm. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Man-s-death-after-eating-roaches-raises-questions-3932749.php (in case you missed it...)
I am feeling very blessed this evening, for many reasons. One being that Joe finished a big accounting job early, and the client paid him, on-the-spot. This gave us the remaining money needed to get the new sofa and love seat that we found while mattress shopping. I expected it to be another month or so. We went out and made the purchase. Our current sofa is about twelve years old, and showing much wear - from our big behinds and from cats that are not declawed. Fortunately, the cat who was most naughty about scratching furniture has gone across the rainbow bridge. Our scratching posts, placed strategically, are more popular to the cats we now have. Anyway, the new furniture will be here Saturday! I snapped a photo, at the furniture store.
They look like leather, but are actually covered in a polyester fabric. They are recliners, and the love seat chairs are also rockers. We are into comfort at our house. The living room will get a complete re-arrangement this weekend! I also want to find a new coffee table and end tables, but we will search the consignment stores for those. I saw some at the furniture store that I liked, but not for $800. I'm more in the market for gently used and less than $250!
So, that was my exciting day! I'm sure nothing else will top this! Not even Red White & the Blues, this Friday night.
Thanks for checking in! I hope you are having a good evening, and wish you a good Wednesday! Peace, love & hugs!!

Comfy, comfy comfy. You will so look forward to getting home from work.
ReplyDeleteThat 'contest' is just foolishness and stupidity. What was everyone thinking? Was it worth it? Hope it's banned.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture looks awesome!!!
What some people won't do! I thought your new sofa was leather - sure sounds comfy. And those pumpkins have me thinking of pie.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing pumpkins in the fall! Do you and Joe carve one for Halloween? I did hear about that man who ate the worms and roaches. What in the world was he thinking? And why would anyone hold a contest like that? Crazy!! I love your new sofa! That was awesome that Joe's client paid him right away. What a nice surprise that was!
ReplyDeleteKris, we don't carve a pumpkin, and we don't decorate anymore either. Bah humbug on the D'Orsaneos. We got tired of teenagers coming to the door for candy, not even dressed up. The little kids are all gone. We're in the back of a culdesac, so we aren't seen from the main road. There are so many Halloween festivies around town (including the Museum) that most families participate at church (ours does Trunk or Treat) or at the Mall, or the Museum. It's just not safe being out on the streets anymore. Our light stays off and we dont' answer the door, if someone knocks anyway. Boo.
DeleteThe man that ate those roaches was just nuts! I am always sorry to hear of someone's death, but that way.......uggggh! Love, love, love your new furniture. I have always wanted recliners in these here, but not happening! lol I completely forgot Tuesday Thoughts and Wordless Wednesday this week....maybe get back on track next week. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteP. S. I did do Wordless Wednesday but with words...lol
ReplyDeleteEwwww on eating roaches and worms..
ReplyDeleteYour new furniture looks great. None of the cats I ever had would use a scratching post. You are lucky that yours use one.
Hope you find end tables you like. Have a great day!
Linda, I forget most of the time, too. And even if I have a very descriptive photo, I will still write something anyway...LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh nice! Love the new furniture. It will be even better at your home :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
That's horrible.. the man with the roaches! Yuk! The things people will do... it baffles me. How did he expect anything good to come out of that?
ReplyDeleteTime for the pumpkins... we have them growing all around us. There's a market just outside of town that grows acres of them and each autumn they hold weekend activities in the pumpkin patch. People take their little ones out to roam through the hay bales and pick out just the right pumpkin for themselves. It's so cute to watch them. Some of the kids will go for the tiny ones. That way they can carry a whole bunch in their arms; then others want the huge ones that they can't pick up. It's funny.
New furniture! Wow. That's always a treat. Your picture isn't showing but I can imagine how pretty they are. Enjoy.
Nice furniture. I'm enjoying the touch of coolness today.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture looks comfy. How fun to be able to have a fresh, new living space!
