I just realized that I didn't write yesterday. You all didn't really miss anything. It's been a non-exciting weekend so far, and nothing exciting is anticipated for the rest of the day. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Let's see....I did sleep in yesterday (and today) which was great. During the work week, I am up at 5:00 a.m. and at work by 7:00. I usually cruise along on 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Getting 8 or 9 hours of sleep on the weekends is such a treat for me. I guess that's why I am always noting it in my blogs.
Joe and I did a quick once-over cleaning of the house yesterday. We went to the 4:00 Vigil Mass, which is better for our friend, Al, who we pick up for church every weekend. The new music director has toned things down and we found the music much more traditional, so I think we will go on Saturdays from now on. It breaks up our Saturday, but we can be lazy on Sunday mornings. It was really nice to linger over coffee and the newspaper this morning.
I make attending church sound like a chore. It's not a chore. We have friends there, and I can't imagine not having a place of worship. I just find our church somewhat lacking in inspiration. Homilies (sermons) are not a strong suit for most Priests. Lucky are those who have a good one! I don't want to find myself (and Joe and Al) drifting off to sleep during the service, and too often, that is the case. I keep telling myself I am not there for the sermon, I am there for Christ. Keep the big picture in mind and let everything else go.
We went out to dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant, Peking House, after we dropped Al off at his house. We go there so often (and have for so many years) that the waitresses and owners know us. We don't need the menu - it's like our "Cheers" if you know what I mean by that! Lisa wasn't our waitress last night, but she had to stop by and show us a picture of the dress she got for her son's wedding next weekend. Theresa is a newlywed and had to stop by the table to let us know how happy she is. It's nice to be recognized and they know we care about them, too. After that, we went to Publix for some groceries, then home.
Today is laundry day. We have a very gray sky and rain (again), this time from Tropical Storm Nadine, which is out in the Gulf. They are calling her Isaac's spawn. She is tracking in his wake. We don't have winds - just the outer rain bands. The rain makes for a great excuse for staying in and being lazy.
Well, I've rambled enough. Hope you are all having a good day and are ready for the week ahead. Peace, love & hugs!

Sleepy Lucy is looking very healthy and beautiful. It's been a lazy day here too. I'm pretty much packed for my trip next weekend, just a few things to throw in the carry on bag. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a safe and fun trip, Lyn!
DeleteI am treating myself to a lazy day also. Two loads of laundry and a shower are my big efforts today.
ReplyDeleteYour Lucy is so pretty. She knows how to spend a lazy day. I know what you mean by "Cheers". We have one here. It's called Orchard Tree and caters mostly to us older folks, so it's also called "The Old Folks Place". :)
ReplyDeleteWe did make it to the ball game, just got home and they won 41 to 7. I took pictures for his slide show.
Hope you're having a great day. Take care.
Good to hear about the win!!
DeleteLazy weekends are a good thing. It's so good to be able to sleep in. Lucy has gotten so big. I remember when you first got her. She is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I like those kind of weekend...no rush, just relax and do what comes along. My life is in reverse of yours tho...during the week I am on "Nana"duty, and seem to run here and there. The weekend, the kids and their kids are spending time together, and I get to rest...lol Hope next week is a good one and no severe weather arrives.
ReplyDeleteLazy weekend are good. That's exactly what I enjoyed...especially today. Sometimes we really need the down time. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI find the same thing in the sermons I've attended in Spain though I do enjoy going to Midnight Mass at Christmas. We had a storm the other night. I think I told you.
ReplyDeleteI bet it felt great being able to sleep in this weekend! We too have a restaurant where the staff knows us well. I love the service we get because we are regulars:). You have me wanting Chinese food! Maybe I will get a carry out tomorrow:). Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteJasmine and I had our own "Cheers." The Greek Grille owner knew we always ordered the same thing and would ask if we wanted "the usual." Then one day we found it shut down! I don't know what happened, but we never found another place for great gyros.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice, relaxing weekend.
