A Thankful Thursday....

I am thankful everyday, so Thursdays really don't make me any more thankful than any other day.  It does make for a good title, though!

We went from having nothing going on this weekend, to having our Saturday filled!  Our grandson, Tristan, is swimming in a swim meet this Saturday, and it is in a town only two hours away, so we are getting up early to head down for that.  He is swimming in four races!  Wow.  Of course, I will take photos!  This one is of him in a competition over in Orlando, last year.  I forget which one is him, but I think he is the middle swimmer, of the three.

So far, Sunday is free and I hope it stays that way.  Tomorrow night is the opening reception for the current exhibit, here at the Museum.  The exhibit has been up for a month or so, but we don't do openings in the summer.  This will be the first of the "season".  Both artists will be speaking and I'm looking forward to that.

Joe and I DID go out to dinner last night (a couple of folks asked me in comments on yesterday's page).  We went to a little place called "The Red Elephant".  It's a family kind of pizza place, but they have a nice menu.  Joe got a small pizza, but I had a chicken breast rice bowl.  Then we went to Publix for a few things before heading home.  I did ironing last night.  Ugh.  So glad that is done.

Nothing exciting to report.  I did read in another blog this morning about how hard it is to find the perfect wallet and purse.  I agree completely!  My wallet is stuffed with all kinds of things I think I can't be without, and my purse is huge and weighs at least 20 pounds.  I've tried to downsize, and I always need something I don't have.  Joe laughs, and says that I really need to just pull one of those suitcases on wheels!  I've seriously thought about it, actually.  LOL - no, seriously.  When Joe and I are shopping, and I see purses, I have to stop and shop.  Joe has a favorite saying..,"curses, purses"!!!  So, have you found the perfect wallet and/or purse, or is it always a desperate search for one when you go shopping?  Do you carry one until it falls apart, or is your closet overloaded (like mine) with  purses that appeared to be perfect, but were found lacking?  I really am a purse-aholic.

Have a good evening!!  Peace, love & hugs!!

  1. Sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. Good luck to Tristan on his swim meet! I don't have too much problems with finding a purse. I like a medium size, because the times that I have had a large one, I put way too much stuff in it..lol. I have had the same wallet for years! It has held up so well. I am going to be sad when the day comes that I have to retire it..haha.

    1. Thanks, Kris! It's from Jelly Pages. It messed up my layout a bit, but not so bad that I'll complain. There are some real cute backgrounds over there.

  3. I'm a purse-a-holic too! I have to have one to match every outfit. I have one that is small, almost like a wallet on a string that I use for everyday errands, etc. It's easy to find cash and credit cards quickly and easily and it hangs cross-body for security. The others are more for fashion. I have to sort and thin out my collection periodically.

  4. I wish Blogger would work for me because I like all the background capabilities, etc.

I like wallets and cheque books holders that have room for all those cards you have for everything - credit cards, debit cards, library cards, ID cards, store purchase cards, and so on. I like purses with some compartments better than those with a black hole! lol!

  5. I read that blog too about the wallets and purses. I have a lot of purses and am hardly ever completely happy with any of them. So I keep looking. I do have a small wallet that I recently bought and really like. It is small but has a place for cards and an ample change purse on the side that zips. Your grandson's swim meet reminds me of when my youngest was on the swim team. Good luck to Tristan in his competition.

  6. GAH - purses! Curses purses is right. LOL I say that because my purse must weigh 20 lbs too. I always joke that no one would dream of stealing it - they can't lift it! I tend to stuff in my receipts, school papers from the kids etc... and well it just adds up.
My perfect purse first and foremost must be large enough to carry my load. Second it must be zippered at the top (3 zippers work best!) and some outside zipper compartments also work well for those random things you just have to have - just in case stuff. And it must have two handles that slide over my shoulder:D Those are harder to find than you think... and yes I carry said purse until I blow out at least one zipper but usually two OR a handle breaks off... what can I say. I call it my work out cuz who has time to actually go to a gym or have money for such things when you have two kids in college?
    Yay for swim meets!

  8. Keeping fingers crossed for Tristan this weekend, and will forward to your pictures. Purses.........I like to have one of each basic colors - black, brown, red, navy, tan, etc. I prefer medium sizes tho, cause I dont carry a lot in them. I think I got that from my Mother...she always had the right color for the right outfit! lol

  9. I know what you mean about how heavy our bags are. I'm convinced that they've sewn wieghts in them that only work when you're using the bag. I do really like my wallet though. It was more expensive than I was planning on spending, but I've had for years so I can vouch for its quality. Good luck to Tristan in his competition.

  10. Sounds like a good weekend coming up. I keep a small purse for going in places and a totebag in the car for the "essentials".

  11. I can not identify with you on the purses thing. I got my first small real leather black purse in Washington State. It had one leather shoulder strap is is about 8 X 10 with two pockets and two side pouches for camera and phone. Usually I leave it behind and take the little pouch that holds just a few credit cards and a change pouch. I hate packing a purse around and that pouch is usually all I need for most shopping. I can get one small lipstick and my small cell phone in it if I have to. I seldom take my cell phone when I shop either. Any one who needs me will phone back later. I am a dinosaur. I am also trying to KISS Keep It Simple Stupid

    1. Cheryl, I have a couple of backpacks, too, that I use when we go to a theme park. Much easier to carry that way, for sure!

  13. HaHa I love curses purses. I have a big purse too. Mine usually weighs about 15lbs with my camera. I always look at them in stores too. I only have a few but I love them. I have a few regular backpacks and a few drawstring ones I use a lot especially for day trips.

As for wallets I hate mine. I have looked at others but I have given up on finding one I like
