August 22, 2012 - Wednesday

It was a busy day at work today, including a lunch meeting that ran a little long.  Our Investment Review Committee met today, and several people were late getting there.  My number one pet peeve is people who are late.  I understand that sometimes it can't be helped, but those folks who are just always late drive me nuts.  Does it make them feel more powerful to waltz in late, expecting that we waited for them?  We had started the meeting, but then had to back-track to bring them up-to-date.  Grrrrrr.

Anyway, I did get a lot accomplished today, so that feels good.  Friday, I am taking the afternoon off to enjoy a birthday lunch party for my friend Melody.  Shirley is hosting us at her house, and it will be nice to be able to stay and visit.  Melody has to travel 2 hours to get here, so we don't see her very often.  Her birthday was last Friday, so our celebration is a little late.

We are bracing for Tropical Storm Isaac to become a hurricane over the weekend, and be at our door on Monday.  So far, the prediction is for only a category 1 hurricane.  Bad enough, but not bad enough to cause panic.  It means lots of rain and some high winds.  With some luck, it will break apart going over Cuba and won't reach us.  There is lots of buzz in Tampa, because the Republican Convention begins about the time Isaac will arrive.  A real headache if people need to be evacuated from the Tampa Bay area.  You can be sure I'll keep my friends here posted!!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. It sounds like you had a busy day. I know what you mean about these people who are habitually late. It also drives me crazy.
We've been watching the weather channel reports on this storm. I also hope it breaks up before it reaches your door step. I've never experienced a hurricane, but in our area we have tornadoes. Not sure which is worse.
Be safe. And have a good time at the party.

  2. I don't like to be late or wait for someone who is late. My last husband was always late for our dates when we met....I should have known then that it just wouldn't work out. LOL. Hope you are having a relaxing evening.

  3. Hope the storm is just a rain event if it heads this way at all. Long week already for me, I'm fried.

  4. Someone being late gets on my last nerve! It is so inconsiderate! Hoping that Issac doesn't reach you! You have to be loving that the Republican Convention is in Tampa! How nice that you are going to be taking Friday afternoon off to celebrate your friend's birthday! Enjoy:-)

  5. When the kids were here, it seemed like we were always late, but now I am able to be early. I hate lateness. If I were in charge of a meeting like that, I'd lock the door, start the mtg, and not let anyone late come in. Oh, who am I kidding? I'd let them in and stew about it! lol

  6. P.S. How do you get your blog archive to be a pull down menu and not a list on the right side of the page? I like that!

    1. Kris, there are three (I think) choices for how the archive displays. It's under layout/template (I think, again!). I've been playing with this so much that sometimes I don't remember where I found something, but I do know that option was under the layout design area.

  8. I suppose having lived in Spain most of my life I should be used to people who are always late. When I worked in the institute there was always someone, usually a girl, who always had to make a big entrance and disturb everybody.

Don't worry. I'll try and scare Isaac away on my way there. Hope Melody and everyone enjoy her birthday.

  10. We have certain family members that are always late to gatherings. We've tried telling them the party begins 30 minutes earlier, but it hasn't helped. They are always late regardless.

I hope Isaac doesn't give you too much trouble. Enjoy your afternoon off!
