A Nice Day Off....

Well, we have survived yet another tropical storm.  Thankfully for us, Isaac went way west, and is now heading toward New Orleans.  It could hit there on the anniversary of Katrina.  Scary for them.

We didn't even really have much rain and very little wind.  So thankful.  I am also enjoying the day off.  I slept in (sounds like a recording, doesn't it?).  I did a few things I didn't get to yesterday, like some lite dusting, vacuuming and mopped the kitchen.  I have some mending to do, and got the sewing machine out to get that done later today.  Joe had to work with a client this morning, so it was fun having him get up before me, for a change, and to leave with me still snuggled in bed.  LOL

I will say that my sister, in Georgia, called at 6:00 a.m., to see if we were okay.  Her call woke me up, but I was happy to hear from her.  Then, just dozing off again, a friend from Michigan called to check in, too.  That was also okay.  I'm happy people are concerned about us.  Joe's brother called us last night, and I've had numerous FB messages and notes from friends here.  So nice.  Thanks!!

I changed my background here from gray to a clear blue sky.  We are still getting tornado warnings for parts of the area, but so far Polk County is okay.

Hope you are all having a good Monday as we head into a new month and a holiday weekend!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I like the blue sky background better than a grey one for sure. I can tell you are enjoying your free day, and you should! I did get a comment from Kris on Sunday...I went back and looked.

  2. I am thankful you didn't get the storm too badly over your way. Now hopefully it is turn out well for the other states. Have a nice day off....lately I have been a sleepy head and slept in and I think I have to stop it because I am getting too use to it. I had lunch today with my school teacher...she is already getting ready for the new school year...we start back right after labor day.

    1. Ruth, sleeping in can get to be a habit real fast, but if you can do it, by all means, sleep in! Why not?! LOL

  3. That graphic was used recently for the anniversary of last year's big earthquake, that was very mildly felt here in Upstate South Carolina. For many of us, that was our first earthquake ever, and it felt like a train passing in the distance. I didn't learn until later that the train was actually an earthquake. lol

Anyway, happy day off to you! Glad you don't have to spend it battening down the hatches!

  5. Good you didn't get much out of the storm. I've had showers off and on today, rare thunder, mild breezy winds. I had today off too, my 2 people cancelled. Got some paperwork and billing done on line, so a productive day here too.

  6. Glad you're okay down there. I talked to Vic, he's not too worried. Says they're making it bigger than it is because of Katrina. As far inland as he is, he's only looking for rain and wind. He said he'd call me when it was over.

    1. Glad you checked in with Vic. I miss him!! He isn't even on FB anymore. Is he still with Tina? I hope Isaac doesn't hit them too hard. Let me know when you hear from him, please.

  10. So happy that Isaac stayed clear of you! Keeping the people in New Orleans in my prayers. I keep going to the weather channel to get updates. I can't get over how slow this storm is.
