Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 610
2. How tuned in are you to all the recent food-related health news? Have you gotten rid of your scratched cookware? Did you pay attention to food additives before they made the news? What's one healthy eating/cooking/food shopping habit you need to adopt?
I am not tuned in to any food-related health news. I don't pay much attention to any news these days. Scratched cookware? What's that? My Joe had a lot of food allergies at one time. He "grew" out of them after a few years, but we had to watch for nitrates, msg, chicken... it was hard for a few years. I eat pretty healthy and tell myself that my nightly ice cream has good nutrients! LOL
3. What's getting worse and worse as you get older? How about better and better? My arthritic back bothers me more and more. My new metal knees are serving me better and better!
4. Are you more of an indoor person or an outdoor person? Elaborate. I am definitely more of an indoor person as I've gotten older. The sun isn't my friend anymore, and it is hot and humid here in Florida during the summer months.
5. If you had an expert personal assistant today, what would you have them do? I don't need a personal assistant, but I could sure use a personal house cleaner!! My metal knees keep me mobile, but they don't allow me to get on the floor to clean baseboards and get into corners.
6. Insert your own random thought here. My cat/house sitter is coming by today, and so is my neighbor, Susan, who is Mary Jane's backup, in case she needs help while I'm gone. They both know the drill, but when I'm going to be away for a longer time, I like to go over everything again. Mary Jane hasn't been here since October, when I went to Ohio for my nephew's wedding. I don't worry about the cats or the house when Mary Jane and my neighbors are taking care of things for me. They are amazing blessings!

I am so sorry about your best friend and husband. The Covid pandemic really was the worst time.
ReplyDeleteI think there's enough going on in the world to worry about food, as long as we eat healthily I think we'll be OK.
That's great that your new knees are serving you well.
How wonderful that you have Susan and Mary Jane to help out while you are away. Have a great trip!
It seems everyone past a certain age has trouble with their back. We have our share of that here, especially hubs. I'm sure it goes back to things we did without thinking when we were young, and now we suffer the consequences. I'm glad your knees feel good. Glad you've got your pet sitters lined up and can travel without worrying about that. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI think being allergic to chicken would be very hard!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have good people to watch your home and cats while you're gone. That gives peace of mind!
What blessings you have there in Susan and Mary Jane. I love my kids, but they've little time and honestly, can't think of anyone I trust to care for our girls the way I do. Maybe it's my age, but I've few food-related qualms. At my age, I want to fully enjoy every lovely morsel!
ReplyDeleteOh, how wonderful to have your friends Susan and Mary Jane coming to take care of the kitties and check on your house while you are gone. That's a real blessing. I'm not sure what we will do with our kitties if we have to go away. I'll cross that bridge if we ever come to it I guess. Regarding food issues, I have mostly already figured out most of those things and avoid them if I can. I use mostly stainless steel or cast iron cookware, with one special enamel frying pan that doesn't scratch, but it does wear out after a while and then I replace it. I have my mother's Revere Ware pots and pans, and they must be over 75 years old and still going strong! And the cast iron skillets belonged to my hubby's grandmother...so they are even older! Oh, and yes, I hear you on the arthritic back! That is something I never bargained for and it does seem to be getting worse and worse. I'm not too happy about that, but I can't get a new back! I've already had surgeries on my back and neck and hope never to have any more! I appreciated your answers. I hope you have a wonderful trip!!!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the cleaning thing, Terri. We have a sweet lady who comes once a month to really get things sparkling and in order. Yes, the ordinary chores aren't a problem, but a deep cleaning is always good. Maybe, after your trip, you might look for a cleaning service you could use? Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, I echo Martha's comment. ♥️
ReplyDeleteIt's such a blessing to have someone come to care for your animals so you can take a trip!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have a cat sitter, smiles. I certainly understand your loss, big hugs.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your losing Joe - he was such a sweetie. I agree with you no secretary, but a cook and a housekeeper would be wonderful. Nice you have good pet sitters.
ReplyDeleteYes - the good ole back - I hear you!
A good house/pet sitter is such a blessing! I'm so glad you have folks you trust. I mess up my back everytime I try to do major cleaning. We have a lady that comes periodically to help clean and I appreciate her help so much!
ReplyDeleteYes I don't think we are ever prepared for death, even when we know it is coming. I'm glad the knees are holding up and you're lucky to have good cat sitters. One less thing to worry about.
